Steelers Re-Sign DE Nick Eason

The Pittsburgh Steelers have re-signed defensive end Nick Eason, John Harris of the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review reports.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

"He wanted to stay in Pittsburgh because of his love of the city and the team," agent David Wyatt told Harris on Wednesday night.

A fourth-round pick (113th overall) out of Clemson by the Denver Broncos in 2003, Eason never played a down for the Broncos. After injuring his Achilles' during his first training camp, Eason was waived in 2004. After spending much of the '04 season on the Broncos or Cleveland Browns' practice squad, Eason was signed to the Browns' active roster late in the season, appearing in game and totaling a pair of tackles.

Eason spent 2005 and 2006 with the Browns, starting 3 of 29 games, totaling 42 tackles, including a pair of quarterback sacks. Eason signed with the Steelers as an unrestricted free agent in 2007, and has started 6 of his 39 games with Pittsburgh, including a career-high five starts in 2009.

Eason (6-3, 305) has 47 tackles and 1.5 quarterback sacks with the Steelers, and will likely work behind Brett Keisel at right defensive end.
