Redskins to Sign RB Ryan Torain Off Practice Squad

The Washington Redskins have signed running back Ryan Torain off their practice squad, reports Grant Paulsen of 106.7 The Fan.

Torain was a fifth-round pick (139th overall) out of Arizona State in 2008 by the Denver Broncos, who were then run by current Redskins head coach Mike Shanahan. Torain battled injuries during his tenure in Denver, gaining 68 yards on 12 carries in his first NFL action, which also happened to be his first NFL start, before a torn ACL ended his rookie season.

The Broncos waived Torain with an injury settlement last August, and the 6-1, 218-pounder resurfaced this spring when he signed with the Redskins. Despite leading the Redskins in rushing during the pre-season, Torain was waived and re-signed to the practice squad at the start of the season.

A corresponding roster move will be needed to add Torain to the 53-man roster.
