Redskins Sign RB Andre Brown Off Broncos Practice Squad

The Washington Redskins have signed running back Andre Brown off the Denver Broncos practice squad, Aaron Wilson of the National Football Post reports.

Brown takes the roster spot of Clinton Portis, who was placed on injured reserve with a groin injury.

A fourth-round pick out of North Carolina State by the New York Giants in 2009, the 6-0, 224-pound Brown missed all of last season with a torn Achilles, and lost one yard on two carries in three games with the Denver Broncos earlier this season.

Brown has racked up the frequent flier miles on the NFL transaction wire this season.

Waived by the Giants and claimed by the Broncos in Week 1, Brown was waived and re-signed to the Broncos' practice squad in Week 2. Activated to the 53-man roster in Week 3, Brown spent three weeks on the 53-man roster before being waived and claimed by the Indianapolis Colts in Week 7. Waived and re-signed to the Colts' practice squad in Week 8 Brown was added to the 53-man roster in Week 9. Waived again by Indianapolis in Week 10, Brown spent Week 10 on the Carolina Panthers' roster before being waived and re-signed to the Broncos' practice squad last week.
