Randle El Pins Failure of Zorn Era in D.C. on Daniel Snyder

Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Antwan Randle El is looking forward to his second stint with his original team, but explained to Vince Vosti of the The Times why the Jim Zorn Era with the Washington Redskins didn't work.

"When Jim Zorn was there, he was hands-on," Randle El said. "He had great potential, but (owner) Dan Snyder was too involved because he didn't trust coach Zorn as much as he did coach (Joe) Gibbs, and those were things that prevented us from success as a team."

Jim Zorn is too good a coach, and too nice a man, to have the 12-20 record the Redskins had over his two years there pinned on him. The failures of the last two years are on upper management, not on the man hired to coordinate the offense, but elevated to the head coaching job when Snyder couldn't find a bigger name.
