The Oakland Raiders' official transactions page indicates that they have signed free agent defensive tackle Chris Cooper.

Cooper, 32, was a sixth-round pick (184th overall) by the Raiders in 2001. The former Nebraska-Omaha defensive lineman started 11 of 43 games during his three seasons in Oakland, totaling 90 tackles and 5.5 quarterback sacks. Cooper tested positive for THG, and testified before a grand jury investigating the BALCO scandal.

Oakland shipped Cooper to the Dallas Cowboys for a conditional 7th round pick in the 2006 NFL Draft prior to the 2004 season, where he appeared in two games before he was released. Cooper returned to the Bay Area, signing with the San Francisco 49ers midway through the '04 season.

Cooper appeared in 8 games during his two years with the 49ers, making two starts while totaling 15 tackles and a quarterback sack.

After failing to make the 2006 Seattle Seahawks, Cooper signed with the Arizona Cardinals, totaling 27 tackles in 25 games over two seasons, including a pair of quarterback sacks.

2007 was the time Cooper appeared in an NFL game, as injuries kept him from even practicing during an attempt to make the Seahawks again in 2008.

Cooper spent last Fall with the California Redwoods of the United Football League.
