Patriots to Sign WR Torry Holt

Tom Curran of Comcast SportsNet New England reports the New England Patriots will sign free agent wide receiver Torry Holt.

Jason La Canfora of the NFL Network adds that it's a one-year deal worth $1.7 million dollars.

Holt was released by the Jacksonville Jaguars in February, catching 51 passes for 722 yards with zero touchdowns in his one season with the Jaguars. Upon his release from Jacksonville, Holt had expressed an interest in reuniting with Mike Martz, his former head coach with the St. Louis Rams who was named the Chicago Bears offensive coordinator.

A seven-time Pro Bowler, Holt was selected by the Rams with the sixth overall pick of the 1999 NFL Draft. In 173 career games, Holt has 920 receptions, which ranks him 11th all-time, six catches behind Patriots wide receiver Randy Moss. Holt's 13,382 yards rank 10th all-time. Holt has 74 receiving touchdowns, and in January, he was named to the NFL's All-Decade team for the 2000s.
