Patriots Release LB Adalius Thomas

The New England Patriots announced that they have released linebacker Adalius Thomas.

Signed to a five-year, $35 million dollar contract in 2007, Thomas totaled 146 tackles, including 14.5 quarterback sacks, and 1 interceptions during his three seasons in New England. The 6-2, 270-pound Thomas found himself in head coach Bill Belichick's last season, benched for one game and sent home for being late for practice during a freak Fall snowstorm.

Thomas also raised concerns to Shalize Manza Young of the Boston Globe that the Patriots mishandled a broken forearm that ended his 2008 season.

A sixth-round pick (186th overall) out of Southern Mississippi by the Baltimore Ravens in 2000, Thomas, 32, has 517 tackles, 53 quarterback sacks, 7 interceptions and 15 forced fumbles during his 10-year career.

Thomas had two years and $11 million dollars remaining on his contract.

The Packers should go out and pick up Adalious Thomas immiediatly. We need depth and competition at the olb spot which he would fill upon arrival.
