Matt Slauson Wins Jets LG Job

Manish Mehta of the New York Daily News reports Matt Slauson will open the 2010 regular season as the New York Jets' starting left guard.

Slauson has been in an open competition with 2010 second-round pick Vladimir Ducasse for the position, which opened up after the team released veteran Alan Faneca during the off-season. Slauson opened training camp with the first-team offensive line, and has started all three of the Jets' pre-season games.

A sixth-round pick (193rd overall) out of Nebraska in 2009, the 6-5, 316-pound Slauson was active for three games during his rookie season.
