Redskins Expected to Trade Haynesworth Today

Jason La Canfora of the NFL Network reports that Washington Redskins defensive lineman Albert Haynesworth is expected to be traded today.

La Canfora expects the Redskins to trade Haynesworth to the Tennessee Titans for a third-round pick in the 2010 NFL Draft, which would be the 77th overall selection in the draft.

Haynesworth is reportedly willing to renegotiate his contract to return the Titans, where the 6-6, 350-pound Haynesworth spent the first seven years of his NFL career, including his two Pro Bowl seasons (2007-08).

Haynesworth signed a seven-year, $100 million dollar contract with the Redskins in the first few hours of the 2009 free agent signing period. $41 million dollars of the contract was guaranteed, and Haynesworth has already received $32 million dollars from Washington, including a $21 million dollar signing bonus on April 1, 2010.

The Redskins had hoped to coax Haynesworth into repaying a portion of that signing bonus before trading or releasing him, but thus far, he's been unwilling to do.
