Giants RB Brandon Jacobs Will Start

New York Giants head coach Tom Coughlin has named Brandon Jacobs the team's starting running back.

Coughlin said that Ahmad Bradshaw's fumbles are the reason for the change.

Bradshaw leads the Giants with 185 carries for 867 yards, but has lost five fumbles to Jacobs' one this season.

Jacobs (6-4, 264) has started 37 games during his career, all between the 2007 and 2009 seasons. Through 10 games this season, Jacobs has 78 carries for 387 yards, a 5.0-yard average to go along with five rushing touchdowns.

Despite the demotion, Bradshaw figures to see plenty of playing time on third downs and on down-and-distances where his receiving and open-field running ability gives him an edge over Jacobs.
