Falcons Def. Assistant Discusses Off-Season Additions

Newly acquired cornerback Dunta Robinson is among the players mentioned.

In an interview with his hometown newspaper, Atlanta Falcons first-year defensive assistant Mark Collins discussed the team's off-season defensive additions, including the arrival of cornerback Dunta Robinson.

"Robinson is a huge upgrade for us," Collins told Peter Pietrangel of The Evening News. "The new guys —especially Dunta, he's a starter —are really going to help. We've got a chance to be very good, top five in the league (in defense)."

Collins spent 11 years in the college coaching ranks before joining the Falcons coaching staff this year. Collins coached at East Tennessee State, the University of Michigan, Elon University, Georgia Southern, Georgia, University of Louisana-Monroe, and The Citadel.

Collins coached the linebackers at Georgia Southern, whose head coach at the time was current Falcons defensive coordinator Brian VanGorder.

Robinson was signed to a six-year, $57 million dollars in March.
