Eagles WR DeSean Jackson Unlikely to Get New Deal

Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver DeSean Jackson is unlikely to receive, or even push for, a revised contract this summer.

Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver DeSean Jackson is unlikely to receive, or even push for, a revised contract this summer, Jeff McLane of the Philadelphia Inquirer reports.

As a second-round pick in the 2008 NFL Draft, Jackson's contract did not include escalators on future base salaries. Tennessee Titans running back Chris Johnson, a first-round pick in the same draft, did have base salary escalators for the 2012 season, part of which will reportedly be added to his scheduled 2010 salary of $550,000.

Jackson has 125 receptions for 2,079 yards and 11 touchdowns over his first two seasons in the NFL, and led the league with a 15.2-yard punt return average and two touchdowns in 2009, earning Pro Bowl honors for the first time in his career.

Jackson is on the books for $480,000 in 2010, after which he'll be one season away from free agency, and perhaps in better position to push for a new contract.
