Cowboys Reach Deal With Josh Brent

The Dallas Cowboys have reached agreement on a contract with defensive lineman Josh Brent, a seventh-round pick in last week's 2010 Supplemental Draft.

Todd Archer of the Dallas Morning News reports the Dallas Cowboys have reached agreement on a contract with defensive lineman Josh Brent, a seventh-round pick in last week's 2010 Supplemental Draft.

Financial terms were not disclosed, but the deal is expected to contain a signing bonus similar to the $47,150 that Minnesota Vikings seventh-round fullback Ryan D'Imperio received.

The 6-2, 318-pound Brent was a two-year starter for the Illini, totaling 71 tackles, including 17.5 for a loss and 5 quarterback sacks. Brent was arrested for DUI in 2009, and had academic issues that cost him his eligibility for his senior season.

Brent is believed to be a one-gap player, indicating that in Dallas' 3-4 system, he'd be utilized at the "5" technique, but the Cowboys are reportedly planning to use him as a backup nose tackle.
