CB Lito Sheppard Visits the Vikings

Free agent cornerback Lito Sheppard is visiting the Minnesota Vikings, Mike Florio of ProFootballTalk.com reports.

An eight-year veteran from Florida, Sheppard was released earlier this off-season after one season with the New York Jets, who acquired him last off-season from the Philadelphia Eagles in exchange for a fifth-round pick (Cornelius Ingram) last season, and a conditional pick in the 2010 NFL Draft.

Sheppard started eight of his 11 games for Gang Green, and two of the team's three post-season games, but the 29-year old was due to receive a $10 million dollar option bonus, which prompted his release.

The 26th overall pick of the 2002 NFL Draft has started 61 of his 104 career games in the NFL, and has 284 tackles, 2 quarterback sacks, and 19 interceptions, returning three for touchdowns. Sheppard earned Pro Bowl honors following the 2004 and 2006 seasons.
