Buccaneers Sign DT Carlton Powell

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have signed free agent defensive tackle Carlton Powell, Powell's agent, Scott Smith, announced on Twitter.

Terms of Powell's contract were not disclosed, and the Buccaneers announced that they have released undrafted rookie cornerback Darrell Pasco to accommodate Powell on the 80-man off-season roster.

A fifth-round pick (148th overall) out of Virginia Tech by the Denver Broncos in 2008, the 6-2, 292-pound Powell ruptured his Achilles' tendon prior to that year's training camp. Powell totaled one tackle during the 2009 pre-season, but was waived in September.

Powell spent parts of 2009 on the Broncos and Cleveland Browns' practice squads.
