Bengals Waive CB Mike Mickens

The Cincinnati Bengals have waived cornerback Mike Mickens, reports Joe Reedy of the Cincinnati Enquirer.

A former standout at the University of Cincinnati, Mickens chosen in the seventh-round (227th overall) of last year's draft by the Dallas Cowboys. Mickens had 8 tackles, a pass defensed, and a fumble recovery on special teams, but was waived at the end of training camp and re-signed to the practice squad.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers plucked Mickens off the Cowboys' practice squad midway through the 2009 season, adding to him to their active roster for (the required) three weeks before releasing him. The Bengals signed the Huber Heighs, Ohio native to their practice squad, where he'd spent the remainder of his rookie campaign.

Mickens was signed to a "Reserve/Futures" contract in January.
