Bengals Sign 2nd Round DE Carlos Dunlap

The Cincinnati Bengals have signed second-round defensive end Carlos Dunlap, the team announced via Twitter on Wednesday.

Dunlap's signing leaves first-round tight end Jermaine Gresham as the team's lone unsigned draft choice.

The 6-6, 278-pound Dunlap was primarily used as a pass-rusher his first two seasons at the University of Florida, where he totaled 46 tackles, including 15.5 for a loss and 10.5 quarterback sacks. Dunlap led the SEC in sacks as a sophomore, and earned second-team all-conference honors.

Dunlap started 12 of 13 games last season, posting 38 tackles (13.5 for a loss) and 9 quarterback sacks. The long-armed Dunlap also deflected six passes and blocked three kicks, earning first-team All-SEC honors.

Dunlap was arrested for DUI prior to the Gators’ appearance in the Sugar Bowl, which hurt his draft stock. The Bengals, who have shown a willingness to bargain hunt when it comes to players with questionable off-field histories, used the 54th overall pick in the 2010 NFL Draft on Dunlap, who is expected to back-up Antwan Odom and Robert Geathers this season.
