Andrews Gets Six-Year Deal From Giants

Offensive lineman Shawn Andrews' contract with the New York Giants is for six years, Ralph Vacchiano of the New York Daily News reports.

In an e-mail to the Daily News, Rich Moran, Andrews' agent, said the deal contains "very little guaranteed" money and that there's "more upside" in 2011.

As always, judgment of the contract will be reserved until more details are revealed. However, based on Moran's characterization of the contract, it likely contains no guaranteed money, limiting the Giants exposure to anything beyond an injury settlement if his back flares up. If Andrews logs significant playing time in 2010, he can likely earn more money, or his freedom, in 2011.

It's easy to forget that Andrews, a two-time Pro Bowler who hasn't played a down in the NFL since Week 2 of the 2008 season, is only 27 years old. If he's able to stay healthy, and play at the same level he was at in 2005-07, the Giants may have added the free agent steal of the summer.
