ACL Injury Ends Jaguars DE Bryan Smith's Season
By admin
Jacksonville Jaguars defensive end Bryan Smith was lost for the year after injuring his ACL, the team's official Twitter account reports.
Smith, a third-year defensive end from McNeese State, is coming off a shoulder injury that ended his 2009 season.
A third-round pick (80th overall) by the Philadelphia Eagles in 2008, Smith was waived by the Eagles last September and signed to the St. Louis Rams' practice squad. The Jaguars signed Smith to their active roster in Week 4. Smith made his NFL debut that week, and was credited with one tackle in the Jaguars' 37-17 win over the Tennessee Titans.
Smith appeared in six games last season for the Jaguars, entering the starting lineup in a Week 10 contest against the New York Jets. Smith totaled six tackles, including two for a loss, and a pair of quarterback hits before injuring his shoulder in a Week 11 win over the Buffalo Bills.
In two pre-seasons with the Eagles, Smith was credited with 26 tackles, 1.5 quarterback sacks, and an interception.
