49ers Sign 7th Round CB Phillip Adams

Matt Maiocco of Comcast SportsNet Bay Area reports that the San Francisco 49ers have signed seventh-round cornerback Philip Adams on a four-year contract.

Financial terms were not disclosed.

Adams, 21, was the 224th overall pick in the 2010 NFL Draft out of South Carolina State. The 5-11, 192-pound was a first-team All-MEAC selection in 2009, totaling 48 tackles and 3 interceptions as a senior, two of which he returned for touchdowns. Adams was not invited to the Scouting Combine, but impressed scouts at his pro day on March 31 by running a 4.5-40, and posting a 34.5" vertical leap and a 10'4" broad jump.

Adams is the first of the 49ers' eight draft choices to sign a contract.
