49ers Expected to Sit Out Supplemental Draft

Local media observer thinks San Francisco won't get involved in tomorrow's bidding.

San Francisco 49ers Vice President of Player Personnel Trent Baalke has made personal appearances at several pre-supplemental draft workouts, but the 49ers are expected to sit out tomorrow's e-mail bidding process, Matt Maiocco of CSNBayArea.com reports:

"Of course, the 49ers have scouted each of these players. Every team in the league has scouted each of these players. But I don't expect the 49ers to get involved in the activity.

The 49ers have not been players in the supplemental draft since 1986, when they selected running back Roosevelt Snipes (Florida State) in the eighth round. (There are now only seven rounds in the draft.) Snipes never played a regular-season snap with the 49ers."

Maiocco also notes that tomorrow is the final day for the 49ers to sign franchised nose tackle Aubrayo Franklin to a long-term contract. Franklin is the lone unsigned franchise player remaining in the NFL.
