Whip Out Your Polls For The Weekend

Where does Packer nation stand on the issues right now?

It's always fun to gauge Packer fan's opinions at different times during the season. The stories change, our opinions change, but one thing is for certain, we all want to be heard. Now that mini-camp has ended, and training camp has yet to begin, let's see where everyone stands with three weeks to go. As always, I'm more interested in why you voted the way you did, so let's get some comments going to pass the boring weekend.

The Pulse

Okay, question one. It's the standard first question on every live chat on the planet.

[poll id="3"]

Shortly thereafter comes this.

[poll id="4"]

Purely a prediction question, but one that will be interesting to see unfold.

[poll id="5"]

Here's your options. Erin Andrews or Hillary Scott?

[poll id="6"]

We all know who Jersey Al is going to vote for.

[poll id="7"]

The question that has me most curious this week.

[poll id="8"]

Has anyone made up their mind, and or changed sides on this one?

[poll id="9"]

Personally, I found this off-season long and boring. You?

[poll id="10"]

It would be a miracle, but is it reality?

[poll id="11"]

Definitely starting to get over played.

[poll id="12"]

He said he will, but do you believe him?

[poll id="13"]

After last night, what do you think?

[poll id="14"]

It came out today that the Packers were offered a chance to trade up and take Reggie Bush.

[poll id="2"]

Have a great weekend.

At least 4 self declared Homers on this site. Nice to know there's still honesty out there.

A "Homer" is a reference to the popular American television show, The Simpsons. Homer Simpsons, one of the main characters, it well known for being an oafish idiot. To be a "Homer" is to be an oafish idiot.

Nope.

homer

Someone who shows blind loyalty to a team or organization, typically ignoring any shortcomings or faults they have.
"That guy is a total Broncos homer, they haven't done anything good all season!"

Really? I always thought it was a Simpsons reference, that's the way I've always had it been used. I don't exactly take urban dictionary at its word for anything and I do wonder how the term first came to use if not as a reference to The Simpsons.

I'm still doing some deep searching, but if had to guess, I am going to guess it has something to do with baseball originally, somehow. It's very sports related in my experience.

Well I give up, but here is a great thread on homers. Worth the read to clarify the definition.

Homer, to home, as player, to play.

I believe it's that. To follow anything that a favorite organization says as being the right thing.

Guy gave an official definition on Facebook.

"The reference is to the author of 'The Iliad' & 'The Odyssey'. His accounts were considered to be strongly biased and favorable to the Greek people because he himself was Greek.

Ergo, a 'homer' is someone who blindly follows a team, rarely criticizing. Or maybe even better, someone who only sees things from his team's perspective."

Folk etymologies often latch onto some sort of homonym (e.g. the false assumption that the word “barbeque” comes from the French phrase “barbe a queue” or from beard to tail) that leads them well away from the actual origin of the word. Though the Iliad & Odyssey explanation is pretty good, I think PackersRS is probably closer to home (get it?). I’ve always heard it used like that and figured it was just another play on words. Now, who can use it best in a sentence? Like, “That guy who writes the NFC North blog over on ESPN is a total Vikings homer.”

Cool idea with the polls alex, Hope to see more of them in the future. By the way the hillary scott link takes you to the porno actor first not the country singer, She is definately better looking than the country singer but a-rod can't date someone who takes multiple dicks for a living.

Yep, polls are great. Been using them on my site(s) for months. Especially for me, because their easy to vote on, it's a good indication that someone's actually been to my site.

Good questions too. Hope to see more of these.

Alex, I've been a long time reader of Packerslounge and love all the work you did. I don't think people give you much credit for the amount of time you put into your articles as I find them informative and very funny with your tidbits of interjected humor. Moving the lounge over to cheeseheadtv was a big step to showcase your abilities and spread the Packers Joy! Go Pack!

q1: CB, and I don't think we need anyone in any position really, but it's just the most unpredictable one. Does Harris comes back playing well? Does Lee and Underwood step up?

q2: 13-3. I'm an optimistic.

q3: In the UFL. Sorry, but I'm not counting on him. Nor should anyone. Nothing against, hope he plays.

q4: Erin Andrews. But the real winner is Rodgers.

q5: BJax. Sorry Al.

q6: LOL. But really, it's a secret vote...

q7: I liked Jordy better. Now I can't decide.

q8: Boring.

q9: He won't. No way.

q10: They won't. No way.

q11: Yes, don't think he's that much of a dumbass. Plus, he needs money to pay his hoes.

q12: I can't believe people didn't vote Favre was the biggest dumbass... But LeBron is also a big dumbass.

q13: Player by player, yes. But I don't know what we would've lost if we moved up, so...

Good to see Hawk get some respect.
I'm also surprised that "Was Another Reason to Fire Ted Thompson!" didn't get more votes. Maybe Packer Fans are starting to see the light

1: Defensive end. As Mart pointed out on Cheesehead Radio last week, this was a big reason why we couldn't get pressure on the QB.
2: 11-5
3: Harrell won't contribute anything. I just don't think his back is ever going to be healthy enough to play in the Nfl.
4: I heart Erin Andrews.
5: Not on the roster.
6: I like the Lounge where ever it is.
7: Jordy.
8: Offseasons are boring by definition. I don't get excited until the REAL games start.
9: If it is humanly possible, yes. I don't think it is humanly possible though.
10: Possibly. There is still a lot of off season left.
11: I think he will sign in time for training camp.
12: I don't think either of them are dumbasses. Attention whores, yes. Dumbasses, no. And right now, Lebron is the biggest attention whore.
13: That's a good question. Yeah I'd probably swap them, but both players are just average.

Truly surprised that many people think Harrell will get through training camp, let alone play this season.

The Hawk, Bush question was the most interesting IMO. I wouldn't because I think barely Hawk has more value now (performance vs. salary), but he will sign for less once they both become RFAs.
