Tramon Doing It Right

Tramon Doing It Right

There’s no secret I like Tramon Williams. Now I have another reason to like him. Despite not getting a new deal yet, he’s at the off-season workouts.

A couple weeks ago, “news” broke that Tramon was holding out! Holding out of what? Exactly. Off-season conditioning is the first thing to “hold out” of and he’s there, unlike Nick Collins.

Tom Silverstein wrote that “The Packers may have agreed to start working on a new deal if Williams attends the off-season program. He will be the lowest paid of the top five cornerbacks on the roster if he signs his tender and the Packers probably want to see if they can get him signed long term so he can eventually take over for Charles Woodson or Al Harris.”

Every part of that is good. He’s showing up and a new deal is in the future (which I said would happen). Tommy also adds that Tramon is likely to take over for one of the big dogs, another thing I’ve been saying for a long time.

This probably isn’t a big deal to many, but Tramon is one of my favorite players so seeing him show the class and determination to get this business done makes me happy.

Now Tramon could very well not show up to OTA’s if he doesn’t have a contract yet. Will he not show up? I don’t think so. He’ll be there, having Jarrett Bush and Pat Lee carrying his bags.

I know this part of the year everyone is in “new player” mindset, but making sure we have guys like Tramon waiting in the wings is a very big deal. It looks like a new deal is in the works, and an in-shape Tramon is in Green Bay already.

Ha ha on the bags comment. I agree, I love him, and agree with you, this shows a lot of class. Somewhere I read, too, that not only is he the lowest paid guy in the backfield, but of all the Packers.

I'd give Nick a little break, as in the jury's out - he's got a baby coming, and can probably lift at home. Let's see if he's here once the baby comes - of course I don't know the due date, damn Nick didn't tell me. Just assuming. If I am wrong and the baby is due is say August, my bad.

Great to see you here RFSF. This place needs the sensible touch of a female football goddess. There is far too much testosterone floating around here. Come back and come back often.

Be careful of IronMan - he likes the ladies.

this is almost unheard of in todays NFL. i almsot don't believe it- a guy in camp who doesn't have a respectable deal in place? WOW.....makes you think there is hope. kudos tramon, kudos!

That offer they gave him was a friggin joke-- especially in light of how much bush is getting paid. He deserves better than league minimum. He was an important part of the defense last year.

Asshalo, he'll get the deal. He was an undrafted free agent coming out of college. This is the type of deal they get. He's proven that he can be a valuable member of the team and TT will give him the contract he deserves. TT has proven he'll fork over the $ when it is deserved and the player is willing to play ball and go by the rules.
