The Six Pack

The Six Pack

With the nightmare of a week this has been, it's a small blessing to have some playoff football to look forward to. Here's this week's six pack for your Packers pleasure.

The Six Pack

1. If you read my in-depth analysis of this weekend's game, I promised that the outcome of my fishing trip would directly determine the outcome of this week's Packer's game. Sometimes a streak of luck is all you need. Well, I caught some fish and had a good time. Then, on the way home some lady stopped in the middle of the four lane expressway in a blizzard and totaled my car. However, I walked away without a scratch. I would say the streak is on. Your Green Bay Packers will win 27-14, putting the game out of reach in the early parts of the fourth quarter.

2. I still don't know quite what this is, but the Packers girl is in dead last among the finalists.

3. If you didn't catch "Around The Lounge" make sure and check it out. I am looking for people interested in being panelists on the next show. Please contact me if you are interested. All you need is a webcam.

4. I was browsing the Green Bay Press-Gazette's article that looked back on pre-season predictions. I just went and looked at mine. Although I was off on some things, there are others that made my skin crawl. Freaky.

5. This NFL Hog index really intrigues me. I am seeing it around more and more. Every time I see it, it predicts the Green Bay Packers make the dance. Finally, a system that works.

6. What is you were to run 10,001 simulations of this Sunday's game based on a rigorous analysis of each team that considers strength-of-schedule-adjusted team and player ratings and then makes modifications for injuries and depth at each position? Let's find out.

1. Totalling the car but not getting injured is one of those bad news/good news things, but I count it as good luck because the good news came last. At least your vehicle didn't bend and nearly snap in two all of its own accord, like my pickup did last winter.

2. The video didn't work on my computer.

3. Sorry, no web cam.

4. You hit on Rodgers and the D-line, but not a lot else. It's hard to make such specific predictions with any kind of accuracy. I wish you had been right about Will Blackmon staying healthy. We've really missed him on punt returns.

5. Interesting, but I think it's absurd to predict playoff outcomes without taking a team's offense or special teams into account. I notice that they only go back two years with the DHI. That's probably because the results were not in its favor for previous years.

6. I hate to sound like a crank, but I'm not too keen on this either. Formula schmormula. I remember somebody had a formula in the off-season that predicted that the Packers would finish something like 7-9 this season. Most fans thought it was garbage, and sure enough, that's exactly what it turned out to be. At least with these simulations, the results are expressed in terms of percentages, which is more realistic, but not particularly useful. It's all just a way of killing time until the game comes on.

just out of curiosity - how can a game be out of reach in the early parts of the 4th qtr when only up 13 points and with players like Warner, Fitz, Breaston, Wells and maybe even Boldin on the other team?

Who says the Cards didn't put up a late garbage touchdown?

Good point. However, I don't think that even a 3 score lead is out of reach (with more than a half qtr to play) for a savvy vet like Warner with the weapons he has... and with Bush as our nickel back.

Of course you could counterpoint that it will be close to a shutout with 2 late TDs for the Cards.

I hope your prediction comes true, though! Go Pack!

Favre gets to meet the Cowboys again. Correct me if I'm wrong but Brett doesn't exactly have a glowing record against the 'boys.......
