The Six Pack

The Six Pack

Happy New Years to everyone. Not a lot of drinking going on around here tonight, but I do have time for a quick six pack.

The Six Pack

1. Well, our test of the video broadcast system for our soon to be show "Around The Lounge" was a success. Only three people showed up, but the technology worked perfectly. We plan to run it "Around The Horn" style with four guests each week and a host.

I would like to see Nagler, Carriveau, Dale Z, and Packer Ranter battle it out among others. Throw in some Jersey Al and Greg C. and it could get interesting. I will of course be the Lounge version of Tony Reali. Get ready, if I don't like what you have to say, you'll be asked to shut your box and go.

Who would you like to see on the show?

2. Last year, I too was saying that Nick Collins was overrated. Here is what Nick had to say:

"I put a lot of pressure on myself," Collins said. "I just wanted to prove everyone wrong that was talking bad about me, saying, 'He's a one-hit wonder,' so the pressure was all on me."

Do we take it back now?

3. Just to rile up a few people in a time of calm, former Packer Jon Ryan had a great year.

4. The talk about next year's free agency and an uncapped year is already heating up. The list of Packers that are "unrestricted" will actually go down, making several players now "restricted" free agents. If anyone cares, I ranked these guys by what I feel is the order they should be dealt with.

  • Collins
  • Jolly
  • Bigby
  • Spitz
  • Colledge
  • Kuhn
  • Martin

I know someone will totally disagree with that list. That's what lists are for.

5. You may not know this, but I am a big supporter of the movement towards stricter discipline for sexual offenders. That is why I don't use verbs like rape as illustrations in anything I write. Anyway, I found this little part of this story terribly sad for someone who most certainly is living in Wisconsin.

"The women testified that they developed panic attacks and sleeping disorders after their encounters with Taft. One said she had to give up an internship because the Packers memorabilia at work reminded her of Taft's office decorations, triggering her anxiety attacks."

Yes, I too have a societal soft side. If your looking for resolutions to add to the list tonight, an easy one is simply to not promote sexual violence through the use of inappropriate language. That is all. I also directed a church choir for several years, true story.

6. I will leave you with a poll for the final entry of the day. It's a simple one. Admit it, you do.

I will definitely participate - once I get a cam :) Although I do have Skype, so expect me to be there in that capacity at some point :)

Happy New Year, Packers Lounge!

Happy New Year to everyone. Not a lot of drinking going on over here either.

1. I have no idea what the video broadcast thing is all about. Maybe I should read the article carefully and try to figure it out.

2. Yep, you should take back what you said about Collins. I think he has been even better this year than last year. Last year he was very good, but he gave up some big plays and kind of tailed off toward the end of the season. This year he has been steady and reliable and has still made plenty of big plays. He's put it all together. I didn't think he was too overrated last year anyway. Maybe a little, but not much.

3. Cutting Jon Ryan was the worst decision in Ted Thompson's tenure as the Packers' GM. He's made other mistakes that were more costly, but none that were as flat-out dumb as this one. We were all scratching our heads when he did it, and we're still scratching. I've always suspected that he let the special teams coach talk him and McCarthy into cutting Ryan because that coach had worked with Frost and wanted to bring him in. That debacle was probably a big factor in the firing of the special teams coach. (I don't even remember the guy's name.)

4. I totally agree with your list. I think Kuhn is likely to leave because we have two other fullbacks already. I think they will offer Collins the big bucks or keep him by force. I'm a little worried that Jolly could get away. I could see someone offering him a big contract.

5. Hard to disagree with that.

6. I don't want to play the Vikings, and I wouldn't want to play them even if they were a more favorable matchup than any other team. I'm sick of the Vikings, and I'm sick of Favre. I just want them to go away.

Happy New Year to everyone!

1. As I'm on a remote part of Brazil on vacations (no, I'm not on a florest), I'm using a 3g connection, which is the closest to a dial-up connection I've ever seen, so any attempt to load videos is futile, let alone streams. Thus the reason I didn't watch the show.

2. I've been saying from day one of the "Nick Collins is demanding a raise" BS, that it had a motive, and it was his father. Just because the guy doesn't know proper english doesn't mean he's a douche. Last year he gave up too many big plays. None that I can remember this year. One of the young elite S in the NFL.

3. After Frost, Kapinos is as good as Ray Guy. I know stats wise he's one of the worst in the NFL, but I don't see him as a liability, not to the extent of the coverage unit and the kicker, who finally hit, and a 52 yarder!

4. That the RFA list? I totally agree with that. Clifton and Tauscher should be re-signed as well, if not to provide depth, in case we can't land a LT and Lang doesn't perform as RT.

5. As Greg C. said, hard to disagree.

6. Contrary to Greg C., I want to personally destroy them, crush them and mock them afterwards, and to print in their brains once and for all that they're a losing franchise, and that they'll never win a SB, no matter what they do.
