The Six-Pack

The Six-Pack

After a brief absence, here is another edition of the Six-Pack. Six Green Bay Packers stories we personally found overly interesting this week.

The Six-Pack

1. CheeseheadTV feels that Mike McCarthy is coaching for his job. Not Ted, just Mike.

2. Bobby O'Shea finally got out of rehab for IV drug abuse, and is back at it.

3. Besides having some great "links" this week, Railbird Central says watch for Oher in the draft.

4. Here is a word from Packer Ranter on Green Bay Packer comment sections.

5. Sorry, but Duke Preston was hardly a fan favorite in Buffalo.

6. Watch your children folks, Joe Arrigo is back with his rumor mill. According to Joe, Peppers is still on the Packers radar. Some other interesting stretches there too. Thanks to for the post.

IMO, looking at who we play this year, it would be very hard not to win seven games with the NFC West, Cinci, Cleveland and just given our division. And if green bay gets seven wins, I don't see Ted or McCarthy getting fired, simply because they're both barely into their contracts.

RBC has had an amazing coverage of what college pro day work-outs the packers have attended and specifically who they've been looking at.

I highly recommend to Oher book as well-- or any other book by Michael Lewis for that matter. Imagine a sports book from a sociological and economic standpoint. Sounds kinda boring, but its exactly the opposit. He catches a lot of overlooked things in sports. Just finished Moneyball-- about Billy Beane GM of the oakland As. It was great-- it's got me really pumped for baseball. Less than two weeks!

I read articles 1 and 5:

1. I don't agree at all. I think this guy is taking a typical bland Ted Thompson statement and reading way too much into it. This sort of thing happens to fans a lot to fans during the off-season. I think Thompson and McCarthy are pretty much joined at the hip. They will get two more years, unless this season is another disaster, in which case it will be the end for both of them in Green Bay.

5. I'm impressed with the work that this guy has done to evaluate O-linemen. Sounds like Preston is a "scrap heap" type of free agent, which is not a surprise. I wonder if there is any particular reason why Thompson thinks Preston might do better in Green Bay than he did in Buffalo.

Greg - I admit to a bit of 'reading way too much into it', but hey, it's a blog about the Packers - in March. That's kind of what there is to do. On the other hand, I thought very much like you do now before this offseason. But after the wholesale changes on the defensive side of the ball, I would not be surprised to see Thomoson fire McCarthy if he has another losing season. Just depends on the nature of the games in question.
