The End For Al?

I don't think you can count him out right now, and we all remember the super spleen. But, with one of the worst knee injuries possible, is this the end for Packers Al Harris?

If you haven't seen Al's rehab video, watch it. It's a great view of Al's dedication but also a great view of how bad his knee really is.

I have faith in Al, but I have to take this from a realist's perspective. If you watch the video you can't be haunted by the words, "Worst injury I have seen in my 20 year career."

Right now, no one in their right mind should be counting on Al Harris, and the Green Bay Packers should be thinking that way too. This instantly puts Tramon at number two,  with a questionable core of backups both talent and health wise. Does this move cornerback up the priority list? It's hard to say I suppose. I will say that it certainly more important than ever.

The best case scenario, in my mind anyway, is Al is on the field by week eight. Hopefully, he is playing lights out again by week 12. That's the best case folks. However, if you take off your rose colored glasses and really look at it... Al Harris is most likely done.

I hope I am wrong.

Regardless of Al's situation going into next season, defensive back has to be a huge priority. i think finding an OLB to compliment Matthews is first, but I'd like to see 2 of the first 4 draft picks selected on DBs, corner or safety. Bigby was a liability at times and after Woodson & T. Williams, there's a huge holes behind them at corner.

I agree with Mitch, defensive back has to be a priority regardless. Maybe someone that can do a bit of both safety and corner like (not in terms of skill level, just skill set) Charles Woodson. Bigby is not the answer back there with Nick Collins, but the health of Williams is a huge problem as well.

Lots of holes back there that, even if Harris is back, need work. I realy think the Packers should do safety in the first round since most of the great O-linemen will be gone by the times the Packers get their pick.

Yes he's bad, but it's early days yet. He's still one of the best CBs in the league and it would be devastating if all the work he's putting in is for nothing. I'd guess Kampman is in a not-too dissimillar situation. I would say going for a CB in the Draft is not what we need (remember Pat Lee was a second rounder, and he's never healthy). We would need to hit F.A for this. However I'm hopeful Al will be back.

There is only one Al Harris. I'm sure he will do everything possible to come back. GB needs Al.
