Packers Dump Everyone

Packers Dump Everyone

In what is becoming a clearance sale, the Green Bay Packers have dumped the entire defensive coaching staff. All defensive coaches with the exception of Winston Moss have just been fired.

Released are defensive ends coach Carl Hairston, defensive tackles coach Robert Nunn, secondary coach Kurt Schottenheimer, cornerbacks/nickel package coach Lionel Washington, and quality control assistant Joe Whitt, Jr.

I agree with most of the firings except Lionel Washington. I have always thought he was a good assistant coach since our cornerbacks have usually done a pretty good job (as long as they have a pass rush that actually shows up from time to time). Plus Tramon WIlliams progressed quite a bit at the beginning of the season so I think you have to attribute some of that to Lionel Washington. As far as the rest of the coaches being fired, I really can't say I am upset that any of them are gone.

Thompson’s Plan For Improvement: Do Nothing.

The Stooges: McCarthy & Thompson
If you read this blog, then you most likely have noticed Ted Thompson’s recent comments regarding the immediate future of the Green Bay Packer organization and are curious as to when this site would cover it.

When asked about being open to signing free agents in attempt to fill weak spots, Ted Thompson said he’ll not embark on a radically different course than he has in his four previous years as GM. Surprise Surprise. This really goes to show how far his head is up his own ass that even after 4 years with a sub .500 record that he still thinks he has built a good team.

In essence, what Ted Thompson is saying is that ‘no, I’m doing a good job and have actually been right all the time.’ Predictably, Thompson went on to blame the injuries and laud the fact that they came ‘close’ in a bunch of games. I wish my boss only expected me to come ‘close’ to success as opposed to actually earning him money.

So we have to go another year with a guy who traded the most marketable and profitable active football player costing our team dear revenue, lost more games than winning, and who now even has players in the locker room questioning his development tactics.

The fans aren’t the only ones whose mouths are watering with the thought of bolstering our team with seasoned veterans via free agency and trades (remember the Wolf years?), as Woodson and Harris have been public with their criticisms in the lack of this approach from Thompson.

“I don’t know that it’s any more (urgent) than any other year,” Thompson said. “It’s an avenue, free agency.”

Great. Perhaps we could benefit if our GM could take a page from Obamas’ successful ‘Change’ propaganda and adopt a forward thinking mentality.

I’m curious to see how the homer Wisconsin journalists will spin this after yet another disappointing finish and apparently no plan for improvement by our GM.

Its going to suck watching someone else sign Haynesworth and Peppers. Fire Ted Thompson Now!
