Happiness is a Warm Super Bowl Ring

Happiness is a Warm Super Bowl Ring

It’s pretty obvious that I grew up in a Packers household, but I also grew up in a Beatles home.  We owned actual records and singles, and I grew up learning to switch the rotation speed on the record player and dropping a needle to hear greatness.  In college my favorite class was a four credit course on the Beatles, the history of their songs, the technology they invented, their times and how they changed music.  In my 6 years of post-high school education, I learned the most in that class.  So on today, 30 years to the day after John Lennon was shot and killed, I offer this: a mix of two of my childhood loves.  The Packers 2010 Season, as told by the Beatles. Week 1:  Packers 27 – Eagles 20.  Hello, Goodbye. We said hello to the season, and goodbye to Ryan Grant. Week 2:  Packers 34 – Bills 7.  I Feel Fine. Injuries aside, Packers domination. Week 3:  Packers 17 – Bears 20.  I Should Have Known Better. 18 penalties.  Really. Week 4:  Packers 28 – Lions 26.  In Spite of all the Danger. Close wins still count. Week 5:  Packers 13 – Redskins 16.  Help. Help. Week 6:  Packers 20 – Dolphins 23.  I’m Down. “How can you laugh, when you know I’m down?” Week 7:  Packers 28 – Vikings 24.  Here Comes the Sun and Nowhere Man. Finally, the sun!  And also, who’s that guy playing quarterback for the Vikings? Week 8:  Packers 9 – Jets 0.  With a Little Help From My Friends. Thank you defense. Week 9: Packers 45 – Cowboys 7.  Sexy Sadie. Is there anything sexier than this score?  Also, we made a fool of Wade Phillips. Week 10:  Bye Week. Eight Days a Week. Man, bye weeks drag on forever. Week 11:  Packers 31 – Vikings 3. I’m looking through you. Seriously, who is that guy playing QB for the Vikes?  He’s not the same. Week 12:  Packers 17 – Falcons 20.  We Can Work It Out. We CAN work it out. Week 13:  Packers 34 – Niners 16.  Come Together and I Wanna Be Your Man. Trying to play a complete game while James Starks competes for our love. What will the rest of the season hold?  Misery and The Long and Winding Road or will there be a Revolution in The End? Tomorrow Never Knows.

Well done.

Is that score for the Detroit game correct? I thought it was 28-26

Thanks, you're right, that's why I called it a close win, but didn't pay close attention to what I typed. Fixed it.

You're a genius, Jayme. This post made me smile. Love the Pack and Beatles.

I'm just shocked that you had actual LPs. Are you much, much older than you look? LOL Or were the 'rents the nostalgic type?

Jersey Al's picture

Oh, and this week's theme should be "Don't Let Me Down."

Totally agree on this week's theme.

And yes, the parents were more nostalgic types. Pretty sure they also hated tapes. I even had my kid songs on LPs. Dad still has all of his original records. Fun to go back home and listen to them and look at all the packaging.

Very clever! I like it. You could be a Paperback Writer.

Does that mean that Favre's theme song is "Everybody's Got Something to Hide Except Me and My Monkey"?

(Great piece, btw!)

Another Favre song could be "I Me Mine"

It's clear that TT was right to give "that QB" a "Ticket To Ride."

Very nice indeed.

Week 11: A Day in The Life?

Favre's career ended, in the car crash that is/was the Minnesota Vikings?
