Drinking Games: This Guy

Drinking, Monday Night Football Style.

Monday Night Football. The highlight of the week, the big game, everything great about football. Or otherwise known this year, as so-so matchups, political controversy and perpetually confusing broadcasting work – Jaws swears, Gruden loves on everyone and Tirico tries to hold the whole thing together. I am a fan of Monday Night Football; however, I am not a fan of the Packers playing on Monday night. I enjoy the Sunday off. It allowed me this weekend to go get drunk with my boss and his friends and blindly watch the Bengals lose. But I do not enjoy the day long wait while pretending to work, the late night that will ensue and the fact that Tuesday morning isn’t an automatic work holiday. Monday night football throws off my mojo. There’s no brunch to make. I have to do two makeup looks (one for work and one for the game). At what point do I change into my gear? Is there time for a nap pre-game so that I can make it to the post-game? So many issues. I also have an aversion to the Packers under lights. I don’t know why. Perhaps it’s from the years of conditioning at the hands of Favre and the Packers performances in Minnesota and Dallas. I don’t know, but the shine of the lights on helmets scares me. But when you’re the Packers, people want to see you play; Monday night games are in store. So I tried to sit down and think of what we’ll hear the most of tonight. Tebow talk? Two completions but the magic to win games? The dream team becoming a nightmare? More Penn State talk? Adrian Peterson running all over the place, but still not being counted on to carry the team? All are likely contenders, but when you’re talking Monday Night Football, once phrase rules all. “This guy”. Jon Gruden loves everyone. He does. Maybe it’s his boy-ish charm and desire for everyone to be a hero, or maybe it’s because he’s too busy to learn anyone’s name and therefore figures its easier to like everyone than accidentally dislike the wrong person. Either way, Jon Gruden likes “This Guy". Here's a mini preview that I found on youtube of what to listen for.

So tonight, it’s game on for This Guy. Every time, drink. And if you’ve made it through the first quarter still standing, claim victory! My hope is that the Packers won’t be far behind you, they’ll put the nail in the Vikings coffin early – I have random blind faith that the defense will be less swiss cheesy tonight – and send them packing (maybe even to L.A.)

I don't like MNF because I'm too cheap to pay for cable or satellite. I prefer SNF because I get it over the air... for free.

I so wish that MNF were on ABC rather than ESPN.
