A Word on Waffling

There has been more waffling done at the Packers Lounge today than on any day I can remember. Fear not, it's all good.

There has been more waffling done at the Packers Lounge today than on any day I can remember. Fear not, it's all good.

For starters everyone keeps asking for my take on the Favre drama that has dominated the headlines today. To be quite honest, this whole thing is really about a helicopter.

I am sure there will be a million quotes floating around, but the one thing that stuck out to me in the Brett Favre press conference was something he didn't say at all.

Honestly, I don't even remember the question. But, the shit eating grin on Favre's face when he was talking about a being followed by a whirly bird should tell you everything that you need know.

This is about a bitter man that wants nothing more than to have one last moment in the sun. We are witnessing the fallout of our own adoration. The creation of a football star put so high on the collective pedestal that now he can't face the reality of the truth.

Brett Favre is too lazy and too ungrateful to live up to his potential. Today is yet another example.

Brett Favre may give 100 percent on the field, but he only gives about 55 percent the rest of the time. Coincidentally, that's pretty close to his winning percentage in the playoffs. Weird.

Moving on to my own personal waffling, I am going to continue to stay open. The outpouring of support and donations was both unexpected and appreciated. I don't know why you losers like coming around so much. I am a terrible writer, I really don't care what you think, and look at me wrong and it's all over. Not to mention I purposely try to get a rise out of you solely for my entertainment.

Still, I appreciate the call to action that I not so subtly issued. I seriously could not afford it. When I graduate from the University of Wisconsin next year I will take you all out for a nice meal at whatever fast food restaurant makes me the best offer.

So, the people have spoken and The Lounge will remain intact. If there is one thing I found over the last 48 hours it is The Packers Lounge can stand on its own. This is about fun. I'm never going to be a reporter, I don't care about dominating the universe, and quite frankly I plan on going back to doing exactly what I was doing when I started this whole thing... whatever the fuck I want.

I will never make the mistake of letting this place be anything other than a complete dictatorship.

Don't ever tell me how to be a Packer fan. It's the surest way to piss me off.

P.S. Jersey Al and Greg C. will still be on board, and as always anyone else is free to submit anything they want published. The old "Game Day" chat will resume during Packer games, and will be sponsored and run by Mark at PackerHQ. All the bells and whistles you loved last year will be back for another season. I plan on watching the game with my buddies a little more on Sundays, but I will pop in.

Back to business folks ! Oh and Alex forget the fast food a nice bluegill stew with a cold miller lite might go over just fine.
Favre has undone something I thought he could not do which is take a legion of loyal packer fans and ditch us for greener grass. But it's fine folks because we have one hell of a football team and #4 is got a surprise coming !

Rally packer fans it's time to rock the house !

Glad I could support the lounge, and I knew Favre would always do this.

Maybe I shouldn't attend the get together, this is live footage from PackerChatters.com last reunion event, but of coarse they never told anyone because getting real news out or in is the same policy as Iran.

Best post ever. So happy to read this. Didn't see any of the Favre coverage after I passed out after dominating Taco Tuesday's at Taco John's. Probably not going to either.

I got a little smirk on my face after hearing comments from Barnett and Kampman though. When I heard we were switching to the 3-4 I couldn't help but remember the problems it created for Favre in that 2007 Cowboys game (not that it didn't for Rodgers, but he definitely wasn't as reckless). I knew it will probably benefit us, just never thought we'de be using it against Favre. You just need a little pressure from all sides to get the guy to crack-- not even a sack. If I had to bet I would say we split with them, but I can't help but wonder which game he is going to shit the bed against us. It's going to happen, because he's Brett Favre. He tries to win games by himself-- A team as talented as Minnesota does not need that. They need a lower-risk QB like Rodgers.

I think Cutler will be the same way. The Broncos gave up about 8 sacs last year, while Chicago gave up twenty. Sure you can say Cutler will get rid of the ball faster, but he will also take more risks than Orton. Two times he got pressured against the bills and made throws that were almost identical to favre throwing into the wind against pressure.

Just want to say that I love the PackersLounge. It's a great site, and I love what you right. I really wish I could be more active and participate more, but I am really just a lurker. I really wish there was some way I could help out the site.

Its a relief to hear you are sticking around. I've been so busy the past couple days that I just found out that you were shutting down yesterday, and I was kind of blindsided by the news. Glad fans raised support for the site so quickly.

"...the shit eating grin on Favre’s face when he was talking about a being followed by a whirly bird should tell you everything that you need know."

Very true. It is a pure ego trip at this point. The tear-jerking story about his ten-year-old daughter (in which he asked the poor kid whether or not he should play this season!) was really pathetic, but not quite in the way he intended it to be.

Glad to hear that the Lounge will stay afloat. I will try to write an article before I run off to Kalamazoo on Friday for a four-day weekend.

Asshalo made me very jealous by mentioning Taco John's. We don't have any here in Michigan. But every time I travel to the Twin Cities, I stop for lunch at Taco John's, either in Ashland, Rhinelander, or Cloquet (just south of Duluth). Two hard-shell tacos, a dish of potato oles, and a Mountain Dew, and I am the happiest guy in the world.

Glad to hear you're staying on, Alex. This is my only Packers blog and I'm happy to still have a place to call home with other Green Bay fans on the web.
