Zombo & Grant Return To Practice

Zombo & Grant Return To Practice

Packers outside linebacker Frank Zombo, who broke his scapula early in training camp, was back on the practice field this afternoon. Wearing what head coach Mike McCarthy termed "protective gear" (which looked suspiciously like football pads) Zombo worked mostly on individual drills.

Also returning to practice after a week off due to an injured kidney was running back Ryan Grant.

McCarthy, meeting with reporters after practice, also updated the status of right tackle Bryan Bulaga. McCarthy said that Bulaga is "ready to go" but that the team doctors are still being cautious. Saying there needed to be a "level of trust" between the player and the medical staff, it sounds like Bulaga will be brought along slowly. There's a chance the second year player out of Iowa could practice later in the week.

Also not participating in practice were cornerback Charles Woodson, linebacker Clay Matthews, receiver Donald Driver, tight end Andrew Quarless and defensive end Mike Neal. (Obviously, safety Nick Collins also did not participate.)

Very good news. Hopefully they can all go this weekend. It's going to be a tough game, but it's definitely one the Packers should win.

Same place he has been other than ST's... The bench.

I think Walden's had his chance, it's time to bring in the So'oto and see how he does. Anythings got to be better than the non existent Walden!

I understand the frustration - but Walden has done very well setting the edge against the run. That's why I think they should give So'oto chance on 3rd and longs.

F'n A! Zombo baby!

I'm almost certain that Clay's hammy is constantly nagging him, why else would a young player routinely miss so much practice and still play?

i can't get excited about so'oto. he went crazy against the chiefs in the pre season... but look at the chiefs... that team is really really really bad. zombo's gonna help for sure. good player. walden is what he is. jones - i'm really disappointed in that guy. i thought they got a steal when they drafted that guy. tons of speed and quickness - smart dude - good size. something's missing. he may be to cerebral... not crazy enough.

"i can't get excited about so'oto."

I'm shocked. Shocked I tell you.

i'm just sayin'. seems to me too many people are getting a bit over-excited about an undrafted free agent who's playing a position he's never played before in a league he's never played in before. if he's at the same level as zombo that would be amazing - but even that's not an extremely high level.

consider my enthusiasm tempered.
