Woodson, Matthews Added to Injury Report

Two marquee names were added to the Packers injury report on Wednesday, cornerback Charles Woodson and linebacker Clay Matthews.

Both were injured coming out of Sunday's game, according to head coach Mike McCarthy, though neither appear serious. Both are anticipated to play on Sunday.

Woodson has a foot injury related to the same foot issues he's had in the past. McCarthy said he may practice on Thursday.

Matthews has a quad injury. He's not anticipated to practice tomorrow but may on Friday.

In other injury news, cornerback Tramon Williams returned to practice on Wednesday albeit in limited fashion. He said it looks like they'll have him back for Sunday's game against the Bears.

Defensive lineman Ryan Pickett practiced today in a limited capacity after exiting this past Sunday's game versus Carolina.

Ruled out for Sunday's game were defensive lineman Mike Neal, linebacker Frank Zombo and safety Nick Collins. McCarthy said Collins will eventually be placed on injured reserve but couldn't give a timeline when.

Returning to practice was rookie linebacker Vic So'oto, who was limited on Wednesday. Also limited were left tackle Chad Clifton and cornerback Davon House.

Rookie running back Alex Green was a full participant at practice after injuring his Achillies last week and sitting out of the Panthers game.

So besides Collins and Neal, everything is looking solid on the injury front. Looking forward to #38 coming back.

Ok Brian, that headline sort of rocked my world a little there. Next time, just write something like "All Packers healthy and have already established 42 point lead" or something like that. Thanks ;)

Yeah Brian, like he said. On the other hand, what the Hell, lets make it "Crazy Headline Week" in honor of Fox and what they did to Cutler.

Does the fact that Collins hasn't been put on IR mean there is some chance he could play this season?

I'm trying not to get my hopes up, but that's the only reason I can think of for the delay.

I would not bet money on it, but it sounds like they think there is a possibility Collins might come back this year, which would be fantastic news.
They are probably waiting on the neck/spine specialist to have a look into this.

I think youre correct Chris.

Any number limit on the IR? Or minimum number limit for position on the roster? Definitely not the first time the team delays putting someone on IR, pretty sure they did it with Neal last year. Maybe that could explain it.

I know there is a reason why they sometimes wait to put a player on ir as it was explained to me once, but I can't remember what the hell it is.

There is a total roster limit including IR, I want to say 80, but that could be wrong. I believe that includes actives and practice squad as well.

80 including PS, IR active

Sure would like to see So'oto against top rate competition...or even the Bears for that matter. I understand he was dominant against KC, but alas, So'oto I've a feeling we're not in Kansas anymore.

Like the bares dig...just my style.

Thanks. His name is a veritable treasure trove.

So'oto Brute?

I dread CM3 ever missing a game. We've shown we can survive with a banged up secondary and a thinned d-line. But like the Dolphins game last year, I do not think we can win without Clay. We just would not generate any pressure without him. I hope someday we can acquire another OLB pass rusher to compliment him like the steelers with Harrison and Woodley.

Woodley is a bum compared to matthews. All he does is pass rush/run defense, he couldnt cover a tight end to save his life.
