Winston Moss Said to Be in Contention for Titans Coordinator Gig

From Paul Kuharsky of ESPN.com:

Apparently quarterbacks coach Ben McAdoo isn't the only Packers assistant receiving interest from other teams in the NFL.

In addition to being the Packers inside linebackers coach, Moss is also the team's assistant head coach, leaving another hole McCarthy would have to fill if Moss departs.

I know right? So the Lions sat down and said, Fangio? Roman? Nah. Lets go with the coach of one of the worst teams in history. They'd be better off staying with Schwartz.

I really don't get it - I wonder what the conventional wisdom is over 49ers/Seahawks coaches getting passed over. You'd think their OCs and DCs would be in much higher demand (DCs especially).

Then again, when the Pack won in 2010 no one touched their coaching staff. It's only been last year and this year guys have started to get poached.

Fine with me too. Some new blood in both personnel and coaches will be welcome to the defense.

Brian, what are the actual duties of the Packers "Assistant Head Coach", is it just what McCarthy determines at the time he needs assistance with ? With such small direct responsibility that Moss has (ILB's) you hardly ever hear his name. Generally speaking the only solid player he has had in his group during his time has been Bishop who is a "thumper" and a big play guy as well as the Super Bowl showed. Hawk has been consistently average (intangables has kept him in his starting spot), the others have been non-descript at best.

Obviously the biggest responsibility would be taking over should anything happen to Mike McCarthy, but as far as any other responsibilities, the public is kept mostly in the dark as his duties primarily take place behind closed doors.

If Moss were to go would that mean Greene becomes the next in line for the DC job (at least for in house guys)?

If I were to guess the top choice in house would be Perry.
Is Whitt a bit underrated or under the radar? Look at the number of young players he has gotten ready to play. I could see him potentially being moved up the ranks.

Green could become a DC, but I think he might need a few more years as a coach first.
