Interesting discussion with Brian Noble today on WSSP. His concerns on Kampman are focused on pass coverage. Simply, in his seven years he has never had to back up. He's always rushed straight at someone. He said Kampman is athletic and maybe he can do this. It is the biggest concern from his point of view.

He has very little confidence that Barnett can play the ILB. Too small to take on the centers and guards. He will be mismatched on every play.

AJ was totally confused at MLB this year. Blew many plays and allowed scores. He could play the weekside ILB spot if he gets better at reaction time.

Poppinga - he chuckled.

Sure, just thought the going backward comments were simple but really hit the nail on the head. Also, his lack of confidence in Barnett playing any LB position is concerning.

I was hoping Lampman was a new Mega Man boss robot.

Is 6'2", 235 undersized for an OLB in the 3-4? He may be a little on the light side I suppose. I'm not really that well educated on typical sizes and speeds in the 3-4 I guess.

"The question is, who will be the other outside linebacker? The candidates on roster include Brady Poppinga, Jason Hunter, and perhaps Jeremy Thompson and Brandon Chillar. Poppinga, a strong-side linebacker the past four seasons, on paper looks like the most natural fit at 6-3 and 247, and a college career at defensive end. But the Packers never used him as an outside pass rusher until the last half of last season, and he finished with no sacks, so it’s unclear if he’d be effective enough in that role.

That means the other starter at outside linebacker probably isn’t even on the roster right now, though the new coaching staff says otherwise.

“I don’t know (who it will be),” said Kevin Greene, the new outside linebackers coach, “but they’re here.”

Same here - one to watch, but the hype is for PopPinga's speed and tenacity - if we can remove the over-pursuit issue, this one's in the bag.

Now, I'm not one for drafting a Cornerback all that high and we do have Tramon Williams as a viable backup for either side if one of the Veterans goes down - a lower (5th?) CB pick doesn't mean we won't find value-add in it. As long as he's 6ft or a bit taller with big hands. If Naji is there, I would grab him as the replacement for Pickett - no question.

I've already slated Bigby as the Paclker's version Polamalu - they are practically the same size - the only real difference is Polamalu's seniority - and after watching Polamalu at Lambeau in 2005, I think Bigby should be able to grab the highlight reels fairly easily.
