Wednesday Practice - Rodgers Returns

Aaron Rodgers returned to the practice field and other notes from Wednesday's practice.

As was first reported by Jason Wilde last night, Mike McCarthy confirmed today at his meeting with the media that quarterback Aaron Rodgers was cleared for practice yesterday. When asked how Rodgers looked in practice McCarthy responded:

He looked great. He looked great. He had a good practice. Aaron Rodgers, I thought he threw the ball very well. I thought he had a very good Wednesday practice.

McCarthy indicated that Rodgers is indeed on-line to start Sunday against the Giants.

In other positive news from the practice field, Clay Matthews was reportedly doing more than the jog-through on a Wednesday  in seemingly forever. Matthews has been severely limited during most Wednesday practice sessions since injuring his shin over a month ago.

In more sobering injury news, Cullen Jenkins, Nick Collins, Frank Zombo  and Diyral Briggs did not participate. Collins is though to have a good chance of playing on Sunday. McCarthy indicated on Monday that Jenkins would be out at least one more game but that Zombo had a chance to be up against the Giants.

Hope Nick can go Sunday. Cullen hurts... again. This is the season boys, buckle your chin-straps.

Hoping Zombo can play. Walden was okay last week, but I think Zombo is a better pass rusher. Heard Francois was working at OLB at practice today as well. Probably in case Zombo and Briggs are both out.

We're going to have to play another inspired game of defensive football. i think our offense can bring it this weekend against the Giants secondary. With Rodgers back and a couple of weeks removed from being explosive in the passing game, I think they are due for a big day (weather permitting). It's the defense once again that i think will make the big difference. if they play hard and don't give up the big plays like we've pretty much been doing all year, i think we can get this one! i'm already nervous and excited.

i think the packers have been much better this year with stopping big plays from happening. :) obviously, by how little points they have given up this year. just needed to clarify to myself at midnight on the west coast. oye.
