Walden Expected to Start Against Giants

Despite being arrested this past Friday, linebacker Erik Walden is expected to start this upcoming Sunday at New York.

Linebacker Erik Walden, who was arrested on Friday on suspicion of domestic abuse, spent the weekend in a Brown County jail and released Monday, will start the Packers' next game, according to head coach Mike McCarthy.

"I have every anticipation for Erik to start," said McCarthy at his Wednesday press conference.

In front of local media, Walden apologized for the distraction to the fans and said he apologized to his teammates as well.

He will make his next appearance in court on Wednesday Dec. 7 where it could be determined whether he will be charged or not.

According to Tyler Dunne of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel via Twitter, McCarthy is paraphrased as saying, "Walden going through legal process. Based on info, he will play in game. Watching process, never discuss discipline."

Walden has started every game this year at right outside linebacker, is fourth on the team in tackles and has three sacks on the year.

When fellow outside linebacker Frank Zombo has been healthy, he has rotated with Walden during games. Zombo was a full participant in practice on Wednesday and could be playing for the first time since Week 8 against the San Diego Chargers when he hurt his hamstring.

McCarthy did not say whether the two would continue to rotate, or whether Zombo would even play. Zombo was not active the last game against the Detroit Lions this past Thursday.

the team believes he's either innocent and/or no charges will be coming, so it's a non issue. other than the fact he got arrested and spent the weekend in jail and the whole world knew about it. we're pretty thin at LB so hopefully he can go.

Three days in the pokey seems like more than he would get if guilty.

There is a report (NFL Network & NJ Star Ledger)out of the Giants practice center today that Michael Strahan was there with the Defensive Line. Purportedly he was pretty vocal and loud focusing in on helping their techniques in preparation for Sunday. It seems over the past few weeks, when Strahan’s on FOX he has been pretty strong about wanting the Giants to end the Packers winning streak. Much like the Giants did to the Patriots in the Super Bowl XLII (but was unable to do in their regular season game). Nothing like employing extra “coaches” with free access to the other teams locker rooms to help right the Giants 2nd half floundering.

Pure desperation, they know what's blowing through town on Sunday. I expect there to be a visible path of destruction... I hope Aaron and Corey aren't near the stadium.

If they need to resort to those tactics, if their DL coach, DC or HC aren't competent enough to do it themselves, then we don't have anything to worry in the first place. Not in the same class.

I think NY wins, right? If anything to give Fox and the Eastern seaboard some hope. Christmas is around the corner, the plots must be thickened.
