Tramon Williams announces retirement from the NFL

The long time Packers cornerback hangs them up on his 38th birthday.

Long time Packers cornerback Tramon Williams announced his retirement earlier today.

Williams joined the Packers as a practice squad player in 2006, made the team in 2007 and became a starter during the middle of the 2009 season. He was a star during the Packers’ Super Bowl run in 2010.

He finishes his NFL career having played in 205 games with 153 starts with 728 tackles (565 solo), 34 interceptions (No. 2 among active NFL players), 4.5 sacks, 185 passes defensed, six forced fumbles, 11 fumble recoveries and 28 special teams tackles.

Best of luck. He played hard and was a decent player. Would make a good coach.

I sincerely hope he considers this. You can't have the length of career he had in the NFL without understanding the nuances of the position that would translate well to coaching, and he was well regarded as a leader within the locker room.

Love it when those free agents make it as starters. Speaking of which, Tonyan was just tendered a 2nd round pick ( a bit over 3 mill) and Sullivan right of first refusal( a bit over 2 mill).

Wish the best for Tramon as he was a pro’s pro. Wish also that he would have replaced King when it was obvious that he was being picked on by Tampa (due to a back injury?).

Tramon #38 - one of my favorite Packers since he first became a starter. Had that one arm injury that bothered him and slowed his play for a couple of seasons but other than that - an unreal performance.

One of the last of the old school db's like Charles Woodson. Tramon always left it all out on the field and was a pivotal part of our super bowl run and other nice runs throughout the years. He had a bunch of memorable moments but I'll always remember 2013 when he picked off Kaepernick and stayed inbounds just to hit him lol. Tramon was awesome and he'll be missed.

Always loved his interviews. Always thoughtful, with a wry smile and exhibiting such knowledge of the game. A very hard working player that stayed humble and had a great career. He took care of his body before that became a thing to do. Will really miss you #38.

One of my all time favorites. I'll never forget the Atlanta Pick 6 right before the half to just bury the Falcons in 2010 on our way to the Superbowl championship that year.

Congratulation Tramon! Well done.. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=asF8rL7A4S8

Good stuff, VOR.
Who had the interception at the end of the prior playoff game against the Eagles to seal the victory?

Tramon! What a career! I’ll never forget that INT against the Falcons in the playoffs. One of my all-time favorite Packers. Great player, great person!
