T.J. Lang Dismisses Notion of Center
With Evan Dietrich-Smith departing Green Bay in free agency, the Packers will be on their fourth starting center in four seasons.
Starting right guard T.J. Lang, who filled in at center at points in two games last season when Dietrich-Smith was injured, dismissed the notion on social media that he could be the replacement.
“@CheetoFinley: @TJLang70 I think you could be the long term answer at center. Your thoughts?” Nope
— TJ Lang (@TJLang70) March 15, 2014
It's difficult to interpret tone on Twitter, but it's possible Lang might be tired of being moved around after making the transition from left guard to right guard last season. Over the course of his career, Lang has played all five spots along the offensive line at one point or another.
Last season Josh Sitton also balked at being moved to left guard, prompting him to say he thought the Packers "were idiots." Sitton followed that up by saying, "Now, I think they're geniuses."
