Thompson On Grant

As reported by Tom Pelissero over at PackersNews:

"The Ryan Grant thing is, he is in a remarkably unique position year-wise. It's a negotiation. It's ongoing. We do not negotiate in the press. We don't think that serves a purpose. We don't necessarily (get) offended by the fact that some agents like to do that. But we're working through it. Ryan's a good man and a good player, and we're going to try to get him back in here." Do you have a timetable? "I don't. I think that's one of those things I think we spoke of before. It's sort of, the cake's cooked when it's cooked."

Translation: Once you're done throwing your hissy fit Herman, and you've realized that Grant's only other option is to get a real job, you know, one where you don't get a commission, give us a call. We'll be here.

Someone should inform Ryan Grant that GB's running system is that... a system. The back is of negligible important (well, when we have guards who can run block... but that's besides the point.) Honestly, if Brandon Jackson learned to wait an extra second for blocks to develop instead of just going full speed ahead once he receives the handoff, I think I'd rather go with him and Wynn as our version of Mike and Tatum Bell circa 2006 (correct year?)

Could not agree more about Jackson. I think he started to get it at the end of last year. His runs against the Lions in the last week of the season showed his new found patience and a surprising amount of grit and determination. He had a few nice runs against the Seahawks as well, plus the ONLY touchdown catch by a running back the entire year (an amazing stat for a team that runs the WCO) As for Wynn, he has all the tools if he can ever get his head on straight. Put those two with Morency as your third down back - and it's not like they couldn't USE Grant, but they'd be fine without him.
