MVS had a good day on the field, FINALLY. (but one game is NOT enough to get him out of my shithouse.)

So much to talk about, so many plays that should have gone differently at key moments, just too many to list, including Aaron and his boy #17 just weren’t on the same page today, Allen L. drops a TD pass, Line-backing back to their old ways of being on their heels, confusion and giving up way too much. Bad Ref calls and non-calls. I could go on and on, as I said, just too many plays to list. Refs - First half the Refs were letting them play not calling the obvious, it went down hill from there. We don’t whine about officiating after a loss but we are just when it comes to blatant inconsistency. Mr King and Mr Pettine should be outa-here ON RAILS if not shot out of a cannon, even Chicago would have nothing to do with these 2 losers !

Ugly:
I brought up 2pt conversions in last weeks post, the trend continues. Special teams remain in the shithole. But nothing outshines more ugly than the BIG 3.
1. Matt, what the F does 3 pts do when you are down by 8 with 2 minutes remaining??? Did you really think you were going to get the ball back? Matt, I love ya but you F***ed Up !
2. I must have been dreaming as I watched last weeks offensive line play the number 1 defense and do great against them. It must have gone to their heads this week. 5 Sacks? Are you kidding me !?!
3. 2nd half, 2 (count em) turnovers in our hands and NOT ONE FREAKING POINT TO SHOW FOR IT?!?!?!

Good: MVS; I think we focus too much on his lapses, rather than his overall game, which is improving. Clark also, as mentioned. Kirksey also had some good plays. Alexander is a STUD.

Bad: Rodgers focusing on Adams on the three passes to the end zone, ignoring a wide open Lazard. Then, later on, throwing to a covered Lazard when Adams was open by ten yards and had an open path to the end zone. What happened to Rodgers ability to scan the field and see everything in the blink of an eye? The OL met it's match, again. Turner in particular was overmatched in one-on-ones repeatedly. Wagner showed that the Lions knew what they were doing in letting him go. Also, why can't the Packers get some guys other than Clark to do that on a regular basis? Would Keke have made a difference?

Ugly: Kevin King probably just played himself out of a job in GB. So did Pettine, IMO. Also, LaFleur's fetish with going for two at the wrong time has to end. It never works. Ever. Stop it. And what is especially galling is the refs throwing their first PI flag just when Tampa needed a first down to ice the game. Sure, the Packers didn't play well enough to win, but there should have been a last chance for the offense to pull off a Seattle style 2014 win after they had five turnovers. Instead, we're left with the ashes of another wasted season and another bitter, bitter defeat.

I'll take a shot at the ugly. If you were to tell me that Brady would throw three picks for a sub-80 QB rating, I would have predicted a certain Packer victory. Instead, the fawning media is going to kiss his overrated ass for two weeks. This was a brutal loss indeed, but I'm still thankful for the success and excitement the Packers provided during a pandemic in which the season itself was in doubt. Looking forward to next year already!

Good: MVS, Jaire, Kenny

Bad: King giving up 14 points on two lazy plays, Jones fumbling twice, Rodgers playing hero ball and getting flustered under pressure, our OTs allowing a bunch of sacks, the game plan, Davante dropping a TD, EQ dropping a 2-point conversion, Sullivan for at least the whole first half, Pettine probably doing enough to save his job but not enough to help GB win another ring.

Ugly: Tom Brady's stupid face. Just a preternaturally lucky guy who has always been lifted by the superior talent around him and...other factors. I hope KC clobbers them in the Super Bowl.

There was No Good in this game. Be Honest. The Bad- The Defense. When will it sink in. Defense wins Championships. Until the packers change it. This team will be No better then Dan Morino and the Miami dolphins. My Question is why ? The Ugly- The OL. So Close, but It's Time to let this one go.

Rodgers is done in Green Bay if you saw the press conference he’s out. He’s at the age to continue to play he wants a ring and the packers always play for the future so time to see how good this organization will be without him. Reminds me of favre but this time you have nothing in my opinion.

Gutey....our 'D' was gashed for 220+ rushing yds in SF Championship last year......our HOF QB has 1 WR... a couple good #3 wr's on team & you draft a QB & trade up to get him??? he was a difference maker in the game today.. ...not....as well as the #4 you traded for him...

Don't forget Alexander. He again was shutdown with 2 picks. 3 breakups and a tackle for a loss i believe. Best cornerback packers have had since Woodson in his prime. Very unfortunate the guy in the other spot is equally as bad as jaire is good . And I've been seeing it all year. Why go to jaires side when its easy pickings with king. He can't stop anything in front of him. When someone gets behind him he hesitates enough to let the receiver get separation. He doesn't play the ball well in the air either as we saw on the first td he gave up. Dudes 6'3 and somehow gets himself into position where he can't use that length. Jaire is 5'10 of pure awesome. Where the F was the pass rush today? I know clark was working. Zdarius was too quiet. Great.. Alexander. Good.. clark,rodgers mostly ,mvs. Bad.. A. Jones Pettiness end of half call, play clock management, lefleur trusting his D to make a stop at the end. Worst of the worst. Kevin King. Brandon Bostick got pardoned today. King gave up 2 tds and the blatant hold. 2 of the 3 plays were absolute back breakers.

Good- Pack were at least this game unlike previous 2 championship game
Bad - the sad feeling e we all have now that season is done. I thought this was it Year
Ugly - what happens next. Might be awhile before Packers have a chance this good to reach SB.

There is no good, just bad and ugly. Many will begin to look for reasons or rather excuses, in my eyes, for the continued tragedy that has befallen the Packers yet again. Many will find solace in the MVP going to Rodgers because personal accolades always soothe the pain of the team failures, though his failings will be ignored while others suffer the wrath of fans and being released sooner than later, by the FO.

A few things that has been shown to be correct, and incorrect, is that this team wasn't as good or what they were assumed to be by many in the media, fans, and especially the statistic fanatics, while not excluding the believers in the Lambeau mystic, like that of the Force in Star Wars, of other teams or players being unable to play in cold weather of Green Bay because of being weak-minded.

I'm saddened by this loss, even though it's like other deja vu again, and again and again, of a very recent decade. I mentioned in another recent post that the failure of the last 27 years with HOF QBs is comparable to the dismal feeling some may remember of the 70-80 Packers, but this is worse because the justification for such resides more with the long ago than the now. Brady is now playing in his 10 SB and Mahomes in his second, back to back, while Rodgers is now likely a one and done. Rodgers has achieved the same as Rex Grossman as to SB's, and isn't that just special.

The window is closed and perhaps the dynamic duo of Rodgers and Adams is more the fault now than the misplay of a couple of others on this team, as the desire for them to hook-up made the most important one of the pair to be blind to another and himself in decisions that could have changed the outcome, and then secured with an incredibly dumb decision by Le-Fail.

Well, I'll let you all get busy on those excuses. As Bart Scott said, "Can't wait".

These pertain just to today - not the whole season.

The Good: Alexander, Clark, Rodgers (perfect - no; very, very good - yes), MVS.

Bad - Pettine's situational awareness, STs; Sullivan, K King, 3rd-and-long first half D, offensive tackle play, Lazard (blocks well, but got punked on the INT..he was held but ball still passed through his hands, And he had acres to run after being hit over the middle...could've possibly taken it to the house, yet ran right into smaller dback who tackled him after a few yards), A Jones, ESB (how do you drop that?), Adams (good player, good guy, but not even close to best WR in game and did not step up), the sequence leading to the ill-fated FG.

The Ugly: Gifting TB 7 right before halftime and another 7 right after; decision to kick the FG; Kenny King, the DPI on KK after allowing TB d-backs to grab jerseys all game long.

Good: MVS. He made some great plays and I'm proud of him

Bad: Battle in the trenches. Our o line got pushed around and although we got 3 interceptions the pressure on Brady for most of the game was nonexistent.

Ugly: KEVIN FREAKING KING!!! Most of the secondary as well, not named Jaire. Also our offense, or should I say lack thereof , after the interceptions

Rodgers played well today but he had some bad moments to.( play clock management, locking on davante too much near goal line,, off target on int)Alot of people blaming Lafleur but I am not one of them. Rodgers has alot of say as to what the offense runs. He's not giving me any B.S. post game news conference where he carefully chooses his words to imply that its someone else's fault.(if he thought they were going for it on 4th down anyway then why not run for 6 yards on 3rd down when everyone was covered).He had 3 shots at goal to go. His last pass was on the run throwing across his body into double coverage. Could of been intercepted. If he runs instead I believe he gets 5 or 6 yards setting up a 4th and goal from the 3 or 4. Lafleur goes for it I believe in that situation. Let's not forget that Lafleurs strategy almost worked. If King can do his job just this F ing once( in crunch time on 3rd down) and cover a rookie on a slant cleanly, packers get the ball back needing a td to win. I think his only flaw is believing that all 11 guys on the D could deliver at the same time. King owed us a couple of big plays to atone for his mistakes in the first half. He defends that pass cleanly(not much to ask) I would have considered the debt payed in full.

So many opportunities, but players just didn't do the extra, nor make that spectacular play that is needed and expected in the final 4 best teams.

The exceptional efforts were: JAlexander, MVS. They did their 100% contribution and stellar work for playoff caliber expectations.

My grades:
Rodgers A- (90% of effort) (missed some wide open opps). Had some very good deep throws. Of course, a very high, high level of ability and of course our expectations are high….but, well, it was not 100% and that won’t cut it against a superb final 4 opponent, let alone Brady.

DAdams A- (95% of potential) He was consistent. He was good. He was the point of focus by the D. But he didn't show us that he was the best receiver in Football, and if he is, then he did not reach his potential in this game.

AJones C (65% of potential). Contributed minimally, maybe a lot to do with play calling. But 2 fumbles, I probably grade him too high.

JAdams B+ (95% of potential) Gave exceptional effort, but still contributed nothing extraordinary. Probably due to how he was used.

Tonyon/Lewis A (95%) Played hard, and Tonyan showed he is a worthy starter at playoff caliber situations. Made some very good plays. Maybe he was merely hindered by lack of offensive plays scripted for more creativity and or trickery, to be able to out-match the 2 exceptional ILBs of Bucs.

Lazard C+ (85%) Played hard, made selfless blocks. Made some good catches at clutch moments….except he didn’t at a clutch moment. He’s on the field in a championship game afterall, and running free toward the goal….and what??, you’re not looking for the MVP QB? Unfortunate, that one such play will tarnish him for a long time.

Oline. C- (50% of potential) Yielding 5 sacks is not adequate. A combination of coaching strategy, and not scripting the early game for quick releases, and chip blocks. Inadequate nonetheless. Or perhaps, the Oline was overrated all year, apparently.

KKing/Sullivan (D-) They reached their potential, but that is failure for playoff quality football. TB watched film on KKing's body of work for 2020, and was clear in how to exploit his soft coverage.

Amos/Savage A- (90% of potential) The safeties played hard, did their jobs for the most part. Half of this group of 2 made a big impact play. At playoff caliber though, they had some let down moments in coverages, or, well, just got beat by exceptional effort from Bucs WRs and Brady's perfect throws. Between receiver and defender, one simply makes a play at the other's expense. TB WRs did so. Can’t fault Amos and Savage for playing solid, but can’t praise them for playing just above average. We expect evening news replays. I guess we got one..., so A-.

Barnes A- (95%) Played hard and shows he has higher ceiling. Can't knock him for how he came in and made a difference on D, but it wasn't an exceptional performance. He has a bright future.

KClark A 98%. He came to play and made an impact expected for pro bowler. He delivered consistently at high level at playoff caliber.

Smiths, Gary, Lowry B 90% of potential Played hard against a very good Buc Oline. They were good all year. Not exceptional. Got GB to the final 4, but well, they just couldn't beat their guy yesterday.

Kirksey A- 95% Played very hard. Good game. Hit hard and sure tackles. But this is playoffs, and it wasn’t stellar.

Lafleur C- 60% Of course many great schemes with the motions and solid play scripts, but still that was not a very good plan, let alone bold. Opening up a game with short quick releases like last week, would have helped. There was no trickery and little sense of daring bold attack. Why no up tempo at points when Buc's D was reeling? If key offensive players aren’t in the best position to counter their individual matchup on an exceptional Buc’s defense, then he didn’t do his best by any means. Way too little passion ignited at many points in that game. Players were solid, but the team wasn’t exceptional as a unit for a final four playoff atmosphere. The team was unprepared, and getting called for 12 men on the field at home game is indicative that he was not up for the pressure.

The great teams get the luck. The over achievers eventually run out of luck.

The Good: Some individual play, Clark, Alexander, Jenkins and Rodgers.
The Bad: Coaching was lacking. Never doing anything to offset the speed rush on the edges or assist with chips to give Rodgers an extra second. Tackling or lack there of made Tampa's RB look amazing as he scored.
The Ugly: While special teams did not fumble or give up any blocked kicks Brady had great starting field position all game and Rodgers, not so much. LaFleur once said he liked having Petine around due to his prior head coaching experience. I hope he's over that now.

This one hurts more than SF beatdown, last year they pretended to be good. Just seems every 5-6 games this year they throw a stinker yesterday was it. Listening to AR say who knows about next year don't give me that (Felger and Mazz in Boston radio always says you are a tool maybe they're right) accept the lost take you MVP think that meant more to you than SB. Awful. Pettine get on first train out and bring that overpaid stiff King with you, maybe Cincy needs a coach who can't make adjustments, King you just cost yourself millions but at least now you can go somewhere and practice your celebration bring attention to me dance when you d what you are paid to do.

Good-Jaire, MVS Williams, Dillon both played with heart
Bad- King, Pettine, Sp. Teams as always Coach send em packing
Ugly 3rd down defense, if I was Tampa I would have gone right to third down everytime give first two downs they were going to get it anyway. Dungy ripped Pettine for allowing last second 1st half. Well deserved.

Not for nothing Pack with this subpar defense would have been dismantled by KC, sorry just the way it is, but would rather have seen that than lose to Tom Brady.

BTW the refs didn't blow the game, they let them play till they didn't. King is a stiff.

Good - I'm done throwing up.
Bad- So many reasons to make me throw up.
Ugly- The same ELEPHANT in the room every year. unspecial teams, No championship caliber defense. corner back (King).

Let's not forget the SPECIAL TEAMS contribution to this game....horrible kick off coverage(especially the 43 yarder late in the game), poor kick and punt returns, poor punting(wasted a draft choice on Scott).
Talk about coaches who have to go...SPECIAL TEAMS COACH MENNENGA-OUTA HERE !! Looks like the buddy McCarthy had as that coach.
Also not impressed with Secondary team coach...not to mention the LACK OF TALENT back there !

Last....Green Bay is a VERY SLOW team defensively; get beat because of it MANY TIMES !!
Kind of makes you wonder whose in charge of all of this??? (Mark Murphy) He needs to go...been Pres/CEO during the Favre and Rodgers era with ONLY 1 Lombardi trophy each..time to FIRE the REAL cause of this !!

I think the FG with 2 minutes left is going to follow LaFleur around until his wins a SB. If he doesn't take the team to a SB, that call will be the defining moment of his career.

The Good: Clark, Alexander, MVS, Rodgers. Why Rodgers, because after Jones went down with an injury he drove for 2 scores and an FG (more on this is bad) with less than solid OL play and without an effective running game.

The Bad: Officiating was terribly inconsistent. The non- calls on Tampa, especially the hold on Lazard resulting in a pick, then the late call on King. Speaking of King he made 3 bad plays which cost us the game. OL played hard but was over matched again. We missed Bakh, he would have secured the left side giving Rodgers a chance to escape when Wagner could not hold on the right side.
Coaching decisions; we only ran the ball 16 times. Dillon should have had more carries. What happened to Tonyan after his TD? Why aren’t we in a zone preventative the end of the first half Mike Pettine? Why are we kicking an FG behind by 8 points with a little over 2 minutes left in the game? Go for the 6 at least. Then you only need a short field to kick FG if you don’t make the 2 pt. Conversion.
Too many poor coaching decisions. Rodgers not running for TD on 3rd and 8.
Ugly: Redmond dropping the pick the would have ended the first half and prevented the Bucs TD. Jones fumble. He is usually excellent in ball security. We had our chances but we stopped ourselves.

Ugly - I hate being right sometimes but pre game I thought, Pettine hopefully will play a different pass d or Brady will eat them alive, game over trying to play catch up all day. We all know once your down the other team releases the backers and the pass rush cometh.
I've posted the past two years that our dbacks flat our lack speed and cant play cover and Pettine knows that. Problem they cant play zone either because they arent smart enough.
The Bucs came in understand our weakness and exploited it in the first five minutes, game pretty much over. The Bucs knew then they had us.

So.....Pres/CEO Mark Murphy, tell me how helpful your #s 1 & 2 in the draft contributed to the success of our getting to the Super Bowl...hmmm...nothing to say ???
You should be embarrassed and QUIT YOUR POSITION...you are NOT a good decision maker and have cost this franchise multiple Super Bowls...you don't deserve to be in TITLETOWN !!!

The Bucks were the better team. PERIOD. Best defense in the league. They took care of business. I wouldn’t be surprised if Rodgers demanded a trade and if a satisfactory trade could not be arranged, retire. The Packers organization builds a team to be a playoff contender, no more. Rodgers is looking for one more Super Bowl, which he won’t get staying with the Packers.

All I can seem to focus on is the UGLY BAD:

- Can the defense make a play to get off the damn field on 3rd downs; particularly, 3rd & long? Where's the QB pressure?

- Rodgers seems to only have eyes for Adams when it's most predictable. It was frustrating to watch him force shit to him at the cost of missing much easier opportunities to open players.

- Redmon's alligator armed attempt to intercept the ball at the end of the 1st half. smh

- WTF is Pettine calling with 8 seconds left in the 1st half? He'll be deservingly crucified for that call.

- Kevin King really is just the worst. I can't defend this guy anymore. It really felt like he, more than anyone else, cost this team a shot at the Super Bowl.

- Ball security please.

- St. Brown, if the ball hits both of your hands please catch it regardless to whether it was tipped or not.

- Is it coaching amateur hour? How can you be this sloppy with the substitution communication in the biggest game. Did you not prepare well enough for this game?

- So many missed tackles. And on special teams too, the Packer's coverage unit... terrible.

- What happened to the offensive pace & rhythm where Rodgers and the Pack take the quick hit passes based on what the defense is willing to give up? Now we're back to reflecting the McCarthy play calls of the past where Rodgers holds the ball waiting for something to develop. predictably and unfortunately it led several to 3 & outs ffs.

- What in the actual fuck M.LaFleur? Taking the field goal had to be one of the dumbest calls I've seen from a Packer's head coach at the end of a game. Did he lose all faith in his QB?

No doubt King and Pettine were UGLY. one reason King was, and has been, is that Alexander is so darn GOOD. Every throw is going to be to King's side of the field (three INTs to JA's side of the field is all the evidence we need). Why can't there be a little more help to that side, especially if the pass rush, BAD, is not getting it done?

King gone, obviously a new DC and maybe , we could have a shot next year. But that consecutive 3 and outs after 2 great clutch interceptions is inexcusable on top of the inexcusable TD at end of 1st. So I don’t want to hear any whining or shade from Rodgers about play calls at end, or his decisions to force the ball. I’m out. Going to go back in my cave til spring.

The Good- MVS, Clark, Alexander, actually the D line stuffed the run for the most part.
The Bad- The loss, coaching decisions on both sides of the ball. Special teams- another big return. Poor filed position for most of the game. Brady had great position all game.
Ugly- The TD before half and the fumble to start the second half.

The good.....Kenny Clark. Alexander. Kenny Clark was a beast, and the only times they called JA's name yesterday was when he had those two picks. Nobody throws at him anymore. Scantling had a good game, and if we can sneak him a can of stickum, he could be the number two The bad....since they no longer throw at JA, they throw at Kevin King, who spends way too much time with his eyes in the backfield. Four years in, hurt too often, and still too inconsistent He will have a change of scenery in the off season Id say Billy Turner, but he was out of position, so he gets a slight pass Absndoning the running game, losing Aaron Jones to injury. He changes the way defenses have to play. Missing those big runs and passes out in space yesterday. Waagner.....ugh. Tackle needs to be adressed in the draft. The Ugly. Taking the ball out of Rodgers hands to kick a field goal Giving up a touchdown with eight ticks left on the clock. Drops. Fumbles. Aaron Rodgers wearing JPP for a coat while running for his life. Nuff said

The Bad: (1) MFL: a. He won the toss and then gave a Hall of Fame quarterback the opportunity to take momentum and go for the throat from the get go. b. With a ton of time on the clock, he went for a 2 point play (which we have had trouble converting all year), lose a sure point, and lose momentum. c. Don’t give help to our RT who is having his worse game in a quite a while. d. Taking too much time to call plays and snap the football during what should be a hurry up offense. Pettine:a. Not going with zone coverage with 8 seconds to go in the 1st half and letting a CB who may be playing hurt and is consistently getting beat go one on one with a speedy receiver. b. Not scheming to hurry the QB. I’m really curious to find out how many snaps Gary didn’t get. c. Not making adjustments when King and Chandler are getting beat like a drum. (3) Special Teams Coach whose teams take the word special out of the work they do and are so bad his name will not be mentioned.
The Ugly: The OL. What happened during the week that a very special unit would lay such an egg?
The great: 13-3 year, a MVP Quarterback, clear improvement by some young studs, and a promising future. Go Pack Go!

The dark cloud will lift and the sunshine will once again come out. The draft and FA will re-energize the base.

Give Rodgers 2021 and then trade him for a couple first rounders. He did not play great and hasn't in any of the NFC Championships, or SB. He is an excellent QB but if Love looks good I'm all on board reloading and restocking talent.
