Good: Barry, his game plan, how fired up the D were and pretty much everyone on the D. Garry is a beast.

Bad: the offensive play calling, Rodgers ignoring open receivers, going away from the run, refusing to use Taylor, the call on the interception being overturned.

Ugly: Matt La Fleur proving to be unable to learn and grow and actually win a coaching battle in game or face up to how historically inept Drayton is all season. STs has never been close to this bad and it was hardly unpredictable. The fact that we are likely stuck with LaFleur for a while.

The good: the defense, for the most part. Adams and Jones, too.

The bad: The offense, for the most part. Rodgers was indecisive and the line was not performing well. Nobody was getting open and the plays were taking forever to develope ending in sacks.

The ugly: special teams, for the most part. Two blocks and a total of 10 points swung on those two plays. Lack of aggressiveness on offense, especially right before the half. They had plenty of time to spike the ball and at least TRY to get something into the endzone. They chose to play it safe and look what happened.

Overall: Can't find many positives in this game, but the blame is not solely on Rodgers. There was no game plan adjustment to get 10 guys out of the box. The 49ers were daring GB to throw and they couldn't do it. They were loading the box which is obviously an issue for the running game, but my god we couldn't complete ONE long pass that wasn't a complete breakdown against single high coverage? Lafleur deserves plenty of the blame for keeping Drayton after the season he had and once again injuries on the offensive line showed their ugly head again in a meaningful game. Just a disasterous performance overall.

"The offense, for the most part. Rodgers was indecisive and the line was not performing well."

I'm not so sure the line was any better or worse than I would have expected. My mental clock on getting rid of the ball was more tuned than Rodgers yesterday. I found myself thinking "get rid of the ball" as much as I used to think when the McCarthy era was coming apart. 5 sacks is bad. But I'd like to see the average time it took for them before I blame it on poor line play.

I'm not blaming the line for everything. Rodgers' indecisiveness is most certainly what caused a couple of his sacks. With that being said, that edge rush that Bosa whipped Kelly with and caused a fumble right before the half was not on Rodgers. BUT, the line did not get enough push in the run game outside of the first few drives and they couldn't hold up for the long haul against that front. Plenty of blame to go around. I felt like I was watching the Chiefs game again after the long developing plays and pressure off the edges. I also can't help but wonder what the offensive line could've been with Bakh, Jenkins, Myers, Runyan and Turner in there.

Good: Gary and defense

Bad: MLF for hiring an ST assistant coach from a ST team that stunk(GB).

Ugly:
1) MLF for not replacing a clearly incompetent ST coach.
2) Guet for not requiring MLF to pick a ST coach with a good resume.
3) Murphy for not stopping the hiring of an obviously incompetent ST coordinator.
4) playing Dillion on ST to solve an incompetent coach problem.
5) Fans for not revolting against the hiring and retention of an incompetent ST coordinator.

Didn't Dillon get hurt on a special teams play too? What are the chances? Dude hasn't missed a beat in two years and of all the times, in all the games, and during all the plays, it had to be at home, against a tough team, in the snow, with the season on the line, on a special teams play. That may have completely twisted Lafleur's approach against the 49ers in the second half.

This one kind of writes itself. Staying more general now, may individualize a little more on game and lame.

Good: The Defense - major shoutout to Rashan Gary.
Bad: Offense. Kind of sharing this among playcalling, so-so line play, horrific TE play, and not Rodgers's very best. (Jonesy looked good, and Adams was good, if not great.)
Ugly: As I said, this one kind of writes itself. How do you get a chip shot FG blocked and a punt not only blocked but run back for a TD?! (For the first time, Amari looked pretty good, actually. Bojo actually had two very big punts, but, but, but...

Other: Deebo fumbled that!! Shocking to see Big Dog fumble...but not his fault that the O never really got in a good rhythm afterward. Josiah dropped an easy first down and while our line has held up all year, not so well today.

You may be right, but I can't bring myself to watch it again.
My impression is that if he saw or sensed the rush, that he could have improvised a kick to get something downfiekd, but on last night's tundra? Not sure.

I thought so too. But if you look at the reply, the 49er player came Right up the middle, not around the side, so that kick's going to be blocked regardless.

Deebo didn't fumble. Read the official NFL rules. This is what it says about forward progress: "The point on the field where the forward momentum of a player who is in possession of the football is stopped by a defender or by going out of bounds. A player is awarded the most forward spot the runner reached when the ball is declared dead even if he is pushed backward."

As you can see, since Deebo was fully stopped and then pushed backwards BEFORE the fumble, he was correctly ruled down by forward progress.

Unfortunately, those are the rules.

Good:

duh, the defense

Bad:

1a. Aaron Jones cutting in instead of out on that 75-yard pass. May have scored, would've at least got more yardage and saved a time out.

1b. putting Billy Turner at right tackle over Yosh Nijman, and not at right tackle where he belongs.

1c. The refs. That was a fumble. And that was intentional grounding.

Ugly:

Aaron Rodgers. Say what you want about special teams, an MVP quarterback puts more than 10 points on the board, and more than 58 yards in the second half. He had 2 drives in the end to win the game and failed both times. That simply was not championship quarterback play. He is Dan Marino with a ring.

RE 1c: That was intentional grounding! No way was Garoppolo out of the tackle box when he threw the ball at his lineman's feet to avoid being sacked! No Flag!

Ugly: Did this game cost Aaron Rodgers the League MVP title? After a performance like that, one can only hope!

There was an eligible receiver there. It was a screen pass that Lowry sniffed out. I thought grounding initially, but there was a receiver in the area.

I hate the rule, but there was a receiver in the area on the intentional grounding and every QB does it. I believe MVP votes are cast before the playoffs and if I’m right, there is going to be a lot of buyer’s remorse after that putrid effort by 12. Pathetic.

Jones wimping out, slowing down and not getting out of bounds should not be forgotten in this loss. Sure, it should only have cost them 4 points, a FG insteqd of a TD if not for the blocked punt. But he had the defense by 5+ yards. GO FOR THE PYLON! And with no timeouts, get out of bounds. He did neither. It was really terrible for Jones to stop and let the D catch up. I dont know what he was thinking. I'll have to watch the replay but he either scores or get out inside the 10. And leaves time for 2 more plays.

This is what I'm sick of, our TOP PLAYERS, MAKING TOP DOLLAR not making plays in the playoff games we lose. Jones fumbles in the TB NFC Championship last year as you'll recall. THis year he has this screwup. And Rodgers is the king of the mediocre playoff performance. Last year I gave him a "B-" in the NFCC Loss where we needed an A-/B+ performance to win. I'll have to review this game, but my initial guess is he gets a "C" or 2 stars on a scale of 1 to 5. Very uninspired mediocre performance. Constantly dragged down by the pass rush instead of getting out of the pocket, never scrambled for anything. Passes WERE OFF once again! Probably 5 or 7 passes that were bad. 2nd down pass on the 1st and goal from the 10, what the hell was that? A little flip to Jones and its high and behind him and he catches it but has to dive. COME ON! Probably wouldn't have gone for a TD anyway, but who knows.

C'mon. He wasn't going to make the pylon. No way. If you want to complain about that play, what about Rodgers' throw. Jones had to go fetch it, which cost him time & momentum and likely cost the team a TD. Just another exhibit in why Aaron Rodgers is a playoff loser.

SF defender had the angle on Jones, but you’re right, he has to get out of bounds there. That play didn’t cost them the game but the next two might have. Fumble, we luckily recovered, and blocked FG. Erased a great defensive play that stopped SF in the RZ.

Well Rodgers has 1 ring so give him that. He's not in the Marino category. But that was a terrible performance. And I know SF has an outstanding D. SO the pattern is....Rodgers does not play well vs. top defenses in the playoffs. He just doesn't. Favre didn't either.

Re: 1c

Per the official NFL rules, his forward progress was stopped. He was pushed backwards several yards, and THEN the ball came out. Hence, the call on the field was correct.

Forward progress per the rules of the game:
"The point on the field where the forward momentum of a player who is in possession of the football is stopped by a defender or by going out of bounds. A player is awarded the most forward spot the runner reached when the ball is declared dead even if he is pushed backward."

The refs actually were unusually good in this game, as far as I could tell. The only missed calls I saw were they let the players get away with late hits a few times.

Before this year started, I predicted a 13-4 regular season, with a classic choke job in the playoffs.

This was utterly predictable.

I know the Packers under Aaron Rodgers. FIFTY-EIGHT YARDS in the second half. Special teams maladies aside… this is the MVP of the league. And you got FIFTY-EIGHT YARDS AND THREE POINTS. Not good enough.

You deserved to lose. A fitting end to your career in Green Bay. I don't even really care that it's over. More relieved than anything. Go anyone but the Bucs. Congrats to the 49ers. You were the better team.

Thanks for the (regular season) memories, 12. Time to move on. I look forward to seeing you in Broncos Orange or Steelers Black next year, but more than that, I look forward to the draft compensation for you and Adams. And maybe Bakhtiari after next year.

Blow it up. I know the Packers. I expected this gag job. This is the TENTH such January loss since 92 that they should have won and very possibly had the best team in the NFL. (95,97,99,03,07,09,13,14,20,21)

Bear you are not wrong, just something about AR that's not right. 3rd and 7 last time they had the ball I think, he he throws bomb to Adams, there is no play to get 8 yards come on. Where was your best friend Cobb couldn't get open all night.

Good to great was defense Rashan played great, Clark as always was the man. King was King again one point running around like a blind man in dark closet. Go away please. Otherwise defense was great.

Bad horrific receiver play, other than Adams mostly because the MVP (big deal) didn't look to anyone else. Injuries on O line didn't help

Ugly, of the ugliest, Special or not so special teams, coach has to go MLF should have fired him after the 3rd or forth time they f..ked during year. Joe Judge from Giants HC was a great ST coach in NE before going to NY. Mason been fun but time is up, your coach didn't help you a bit, next year should be a step back. Money is tight

I don't know about blowing it up. You may be mad about Rodgers being shot out of the 2021-22 playoffs on absurd special teams flukes, but without him the Packers would be the Bears. Rodgers single-handedly makes Green Bay a contender each and every year. Hall of Fame QBs don't grow on trees.

.
.
.

And to perhaps lessen the blow of all these disappointments: In 1995 the Cowboys (yuck) were the best team. Fully balanced offensively, defensively, and special teams. A complete team. And I hate them. In 1997 Denver arguably really was (their offense was so incredibly balanced; you saw what happened the next year when they started 13-0 with basically the same team — but I'd argue the best team of 1998 was the Vikings). The best team of 1999 was definitely the Rams, who were on par with all time teams like the 1996 Packers, 1994 49ers and 1992 Cowboys in terms of pure dominance. 2003 it was the eventual champions, the 14-2 Patriots, who finished the year on a 15 game winning streak. 2007 come on man, the Patriots in 2007 were arguably the best team that's ever stepped on the field. Their one loss was by a field goal and was just an extremely strange game with amazingly lucky plays for the Giants (and if you want to talk about choking, it's them). 2009, it was the Saints almost all season, starting a dominating 13-0, and then faltering when everything was clinched, before resuming their domination. 2013 the Packers' defense was pedestrian; a few great players and scrubs. But Seattle was far and away the best team that year. 2014, the best team was probably Seattle again. It was the third straight year they dominated in DVOA.

The Packers WERE the best team in 2011. Probably were in 2020 and 2021 too (although the Bills and Chiefs make good arguments too).

So while there's been lots of heartache, I don't feel the Packers grossly underachieved except in a few of those seasons. Yeah, they could have OVERACHIEVED and won a few rings, but they finished pretty close to what they should have.

I don't know if this makes it any harder to swallow the long term disappointment, but I tried.

And the award for calmest person in the room goes to you sir. Emotions are raw right now and we’re taking it out on the guy who got us to where we were because he choked on the big stage again. We just expected more from 12. We finally had the defensive effort we always thought he needed and then he lays an egg. It hurts and we want someone to blame but you’re right, he’s still our best option at QB.

The thing is, he's not better than Brady. No way. Who cares if he's "mechanically and physically" better? Brady wins on the big stage, Rodgers flops.

Brady is all business and does what he needs to do to get the job done. Sometimes it's ugly, but more often than not, he wins. He's a smart football player. None better.

Rodgers doesn't take the game as seriously, spends time in the offseason being a celebrity, jokes around with the other team on the field and stubbornly clings to doing things his way. His way has failed multiple times and is increasingly less effective as Rodgers ages and yet he keeps doing it. He plays stupid football.

Peyton Manning was able to win by adapting and playing second fiddle to a great defense. Can Rodgers? So far, one would have to say the evidence points to No.

Let me try something here. It's going to involve a lot of really advanced mathematics, so bear with me.

A blocked chip shot FG = 3 points
A blocked punt returned for a TD = 7 points

3 plus 7 = 10 points

So the Special Teams gave SF 7 points on the blocked punt. The Packers lost by 3 points.

So, by your logic, because the offense didn't bail them out, it's not their fault that the Packers lost, even though, without those mistakes, the score would have been 13-6 GB, not an unreasonable score given the weather conditions.

I'll stick with my comment that yours was asinine.

This has nothing to do with hatred, and I'm hardly consumed about anything regarding you. You act like you're the only person I disagree with on this site. As far as gratuitous insults go, I believe you stated that if I had the ability to read, I would have a better understanding of your positions. I'm not going to waste my time dredging up other personal insults you've directed at me and other posters on this site.

Myself, and other posters on this site, have been warning all year long that the continued terrible Special Teams play could, and likely would, cost us a game at some point. Your standard response was pretty much..."well they haven't yet" and then go on to remind us of the team's record the past 3 years. Well, now it has, and in the most important game of the year up to this point. And, even now, your response is that the offense should have played better, because then Special Teams play wouldn't matter. Your words, not mine.

If you're going to post your opinions, be prepared to have people occasionally disagree with you. In other words....grow a pair.

Good - doesn't matter but you have to mention the D playing their hearts out.
Bad - doesn't matter
Ugly - ST coaching and every part of management that didn't fix it all year. If the team breaks apart next year which it probably will, MLF will be a .500 team coach and be gone a few years and deservedly so. That's what we have to look forward to. Thank you MLF for being too weak to fire the ST coach and thank you for not having your team ready to play 60 minutes for even a single game this year and thank you AR for playing poorly in what is probably your last game as a GB QB - it will make it easier to move on from you. Perhaps now is not the time to fire everybody and declare the season to be a lost cause. Disappointing conclusion, yes, but, the bumpy ride was exhilarating. 13-4 is one hell of a good ride.

What Matt LaFleur managed to do with so many pieces falling to the wayside, and still remain competitive, will be examined for years to come. He is getting better as a coach. No, not perfect, but he is progressing.

What Joe Barry did was also worthy of note. He has given the Defense a personality and a direction. You could see the Defense buying in to what Joe was selling. Next year already looks better.

The problem all season has been with Special Teams. Every week it's another excuse, another miscue, another blocked kick. There was not really any bright spot for this unit, with one minor exception, David Moore - he may be the answer at Returner. We'll see. Major coaching and personnel changes need to be made. Tough cuts are coming.

This was a great season with a disappointing conclusion. Anything short of a Super Bowl is always disappointing. Still, Packers fans are lucky that our last 3 decades have produced some phenomenally entertaining football. Our path is stable and our future looks bright. #GoPackGo

Good: Defense.
Bad: Offense
Ugly: ST's

Extra ugly: When people who are brave look back at the all 22 and review that 3rd & 11 play.

3rd and 11, Rodgers drops back and heaves a deep shot to a double covered Davante Adams. With the safety shading over to the top of Adams' route, and the 49ers sending the rest of the house at Rodgers, that means there's one on ones elsewhere.

ESB has single coverage on the left perimeter. He's also got his man beat and is running over the top of the coverage- more than an arms length ahead of the corner. He's literally open for the deep touchdown.

Even worse: Roughly 10-15 yards short of Adams and ESB, it looks like **Aaron Jones runs a dig route out of the left hand slot and completely smokes his coverage, breaking wide open from left to right across the middle of the field. That's an easy first down.

**** EDIT*** Apparently, it was Lazard, not Jones, who was the receiver I was referring to. I thought I saw jersey #33, I guess it was 13.

Just move the sticks. Just move the effin sticks.

You want to know the irony of your statement Oppy.

My wife, who hardly watches football (or understands the game) , watched the game with me.

On that exact 3rd & 11 she asked “why did he try and throw it so far down the field when it’s snowing, and there’s a guy available in front of him”

…… even novices can see the flaws in his approach. Such a low percentage play. 😓

I was thinking this exactly. I always get a little excited when Rodgers FINALLY throws because usually something good is on the other side of the pass. On that 3-11 play absolutely NO CHANCE of a completion. 49ers obviously only needed to cover Adams and ignore the other WR/TE because so did Rodgers the whole game…

The Good: Rashan Gary, De'Vondre Campbell, Kenny Clark, Zadarius Smith, and the defensive unit as a whole for keeping the Niners' vaunted running attack under control for most of the game.

The Bad: Deguara for a big drop and Marcedes Lewis for the fumble.

The Ugly: Aaron Rodgers whose performance was pitiful in the second half. One can blame many of the Packers' previous playoffs losses on the defense which gave up an average of nearly 40 points per game and the man whose name must not be mentioned in the Seattle loss. But this time AR12 must take responsibility for his lacklustre, ineffective, and bizarre play in the second half. I re-watched the second half and noticed many open receivers that he ignored or failed to spot in his progressions. The horror, the horror...

Oh yes, the MORON who decided that our star running back and bad weather battering ram A. J. Dillon should be playing on kickoff special teams units. His loss was one of the factors in the Packers' loss.

And, of course, the woeful special teams which was the determining factor in the loss that cost Green Bay ten points. This is another lapse that can be attributed to MLF or Gutekunst for failing to fire Drayton mid-season rather than pray that he can change a losing pattern.

This is not what I expected your take to be, Harold Drake.

Losing Dillon to an injury on special teams. I have repeatedly cited exactly this type of thing in my arguments for avoiding these situations. But you only have a certain number of guys in uniform, and if you don’t want your starters out there then backups have to do the job. And guys get hurt during your game and you have to put somebody in there.

Other than kick returns, a team could choose to avoid injuries on special teams, and reduce penalties and turnovers at the same time.
Xxxxxxxxxxxx

Your perspective about special teams being the “determining factor “ raises questions for me. Why do we spend fortunes on star players when it’s some UDFA guy on special teams that is the determining factor?

This was a HISTORICALLY BAD offensive effort in a playoff game at Lambeau Field. My memory only goes back to the 60s, but I do not recall us ever laying a Cleveland Steamer like that in my lifetime, so that’s my perspective.

With Rodgers gone, Packers fans will become accustomed, once again, to hoping for a winning season, and possibly a playoff spot, behind whatever collection of players and coaches MM and the front office cobble together. In other words, back to the ‘80s. Definitely less stress, and probably less excitement and anticipation, then the past 30+ years.

The Good - our ineptitude brought to full light for all to see and for our front office to deal with. Kind of like Cam on Ferris Beuller when the Ferrari ends up in the ravine, Murphy and Gute will have to respond. There is no hiding our issues.

The Bad - Mason Crosby deserved better if last night was his swan song.

The Real Ugly - can’t add much to what has been already posted. Great teams find ways to get it done, good teams settle for less, bad teams find anyone and/or anything to blame other than themselves.

For those of your AR haters, GB STs ranks 32 in the NFL, they constantly start with bad field position and give up great position to the opposing team every game! AR did not fumble the ball or throw an interception or drop a perfect pass over the middle that cost us a first down and possible FG, he didn’t have and punt blocked, and the refs made a horrible call that prevented us from getting that turnover that WAS a fumble. Do you people even realize what you are saying?? This I’m on Howdy Doody and BG, and MLF and Drayton period.

That WASN'T a fumble (if you're referring to the run play; if you are referring to Aiyuk, he didn't complete a football move), per the NFL rules. He was stopped and PUSHED BACKWARDS before the ball came out.

Learn the rules, dude: "The point on the field where the forward momentum of a player who is in possession of the football is stopped by a defender or by going out of bounds. A player is awarded the most forward spot the runner reached when the ball is declared dead even if he is pushed backward."

Need a new category: Fugly. That goes to Maurice Drayton. To put a cherry on top of the special teams ineptitude this season, on the last play of the season they could only manage to get ten men on the field for the Niners’ FG attempt. Would they have blocked it with 11? Doubtful. But it perfectly encapsulates what an utter, utter failure the Drayton tenure has been on special teams. And ultimately it falls on MLF for not getting this corrected one way or another all season.

Three strikes and your out ! Time to end this futility and move on. Of course we wont come near 13 win season and a division title again for a very long time, as I predict another 70's stretch of mediocrity. You cant win with Aaron Rodgers and all the Veteran Free agents they had when will you ever do again? Call me a poor sport or a bad fan but there is no point in watching this team next year, I have absolutely no confidence in them at all. Time to find something else to do with my Sunday afternoons and I would recommend that to others too. Maybe in ten years or so they will be able to build another team but what they have now was there last shot for a very long time and it couldn't have ended any more disappointing then it did. Aaron Rodgers was nothing more then a tease and his legacy for the back end of his career is he couldn't win the big games when they needed. La Fleurs creative game plans all but disappear in the playoffs as well. Sorry for all the negativity I am just so terribly disappointed in how the Rodgers era ended and don't see another chance for a SB for quite some time.

I think we should blame the bottom of the roster for not being perfect on special teams instead of the offensive guys at the top of the roster for not doing squat.

I had a feeling this is how the Rodgers era would end. : Rodgers would be ineffective and we’d blame special teams. This is the worst offensive showing by the Packers in a playoff game at Lambeau since the stadium was built.

The reason we lost this game is because we missed two blocks on special teams, and if we had a better coach and/or players, we would have won.

OR…….,

We just witnessed the lowest scoring Packer playoff performance in the History of Lambeau Field. That makes this a historically puny offensive output🤔

Good:
* Refs. (except for the fumble/no fumble calls - see 'ugly' #1 below), the officiating did not seem to sway the game. Hallelujah - I don't have to grind my teeth all off season about a suspect bad pass interference call being made or a hold being missed on a SF touchdown pass, etc. No penalties on kick returns? WFT - was I actually watching an NFL game? Aren't penalty calls required on kick returns?

* Gary and Preston. They both held the edge (greatly reducing potency of SF's run game) and got pressure on Jimmy G. Kenny Clark also had a great game. At minimum, 2 of those 3 will be back next year.

* GB's punting. Hard ball, bad conditions. Nonetheless there were some boomers and field position did not change b/c of GB's punts.

* In San Francisco's three trips to the red zone, the team only came out of the game with three points.

* Losing to SF. I do not (yet) harbor the same hatred of the 9ers that I do of Dallas, MN, Seattle and now the Brady-led Bucs. I disdained Harbaugh when he coached the team. But, IF IF GB had to lose, I wish the 9ers well. I like Bosa, Armstead and a tough defense. If Deebo played for us, wow...that'd be cool. They're not a cocky bunch of az*es IMHO...as such, at least I'm not pissed off about losing to a team I loathe.

Bad:
* Weather. I'll have to look again, but as conditions deteriorated in the 2nd half, neither team could do much on offense. In the first half, GB had the nice opening drive, was moving the ball until Lewis 'fumble' and had the long pass to Jones...so they were moving the ball 'somewhat' against a tough SF defense. SF mostly did nothing on offense all night. If the weather was better the entire game, I think GB's offense does more...but ALSO that Deebo and Mitchell do a lot more on offense. Remember in the 'old days' when low scoring games in nasty weather were determined by a few plays? This was one of those games. Unfortunately...

* Special team disasters. Yes. Plain and simple they directly cost us the game. 10 points in a game decided by 3 points. Plus, I'd add '2 points' in giving SF much better field possession after kickoffs than GB enjoyed.

* Tight end play. Was there any? I hope we get a healthy Tonyan back next year. I don't want to say we've now recently wasted two 3rd rounders on TEs that have done little but...

* SF's last drive. Why can SF complete these quick passes over the middle and move the chains but GB both can't do same on offense - and- stop SF on defense? As has happened in other games, GB's defense DID allow the opposing team to move down the field when the game was on the line. There were no 4th down pickups on this drive -- it was all on 3 downs or less...march down, kick winning field goal.

Ugly:
* 13 ways of looking at a fumble. I need to research & review. I thought a pass was completed and a fumble happened if a player, on securing the ball, made a 'football move'. If so, and the ball comes loose, then it's a fumble. Unless I've been sleeping all season (possible), I've never heard the 'player has to take 3 steps' explanation given by the 'sage in the sky' explanation. I record and delay watch the games. Immediately after the ruling that Deebo (?) play was not a catch fumble (b/c 3 steps were not taken), I rewound to Lewis' fumble. In that play I did not see 'the player taking 3 steps' after the catch...so Lewis' play should then also not be a fumble? WTF! I'll need to look more closely - and know others will micro-analyze these 2 plays....so we'll get to the truth.

* Dillon injury. This likely cost us the game. He WAS the basher in the first half getting us tough yardage and keeping the offense somewhat balanced. When gone, the consistency (or confidence in) of the running game disappeared. Jones did alright running. There seemed to be no confidence in RB3 - maybe that he couldn't pick up pass play blocks, etc. GB became much more 1-dimensional on offense w/o Dillon and it cost us.

Not sure about:
* AR's performance. Maybe he missed some open receivers. Could he see them or was he under too much SF DL pressure? It 'felt' to me that AR was worth 10 more points than Jimmy G was to his team. That should be enough to win a game. It was just offset by s***t for special teams.

* MLF being outcoached. Shanahan did not employ his typical amount of mis-direction/jet sweep type plays in this game (maybe due to field conditions/fear of cold weather ball handling/fumbles). If indeed he was more conservative in play calling, was same true for MLF and for the same reasons?

Maybe, finally, the myth of the "Frozen Tundra" will finally be eliminated. I said earlier it's cold on both sides of the field.
"Frozen Tundra" is a marketing myth. As the 49'ers(and other warm weather teams have shown) that professionals aren't affected substantially by the cold conditions.
When John Facenda and NFL Films coined 'frozen tundra' was after the Ice Bowl game. What younger fans won't remember is the warm-weather Cowboys had the Packers beaten with not much time left. It was only sheer guts and determination did the Packers win. But since then, cold weather hasn't been an advantage at all.

Ugly - losing in the snow at home

Used to be IF Packers ever made post season and played at home- automatic win. Now they are 2-4 over last 6 home playoff games and the Magic of Lambeau is gone. Late to the table so not sure what I can add that is different, but will try not to be a broken record but probably will.
The Good: Fans did their part. Joe Barry and the over all defense. Gary, Clark and the gang did their best.
Rodgers admitting in his presser that he didn't play well, missed some throws, and should have
hit some " CHECK DOWNS" .
The Bad: Play calling and decisions before and during the game. Why have Billy Turner who is coming off an
Injury, and not playing LT all year, play there in the biggest game of the year. Why no Yosh is a
head-scratcher. No in came adjustments. No creative play calling. No slants, misdirections, EMPTY
BACKFIELD AGAINST THAT DEFENSE, the long pass plays, and the final heave downfield- great
percentage play was almost the what the....... exclamation point for the game.
The Ugly: Of course as duly noted already the ST's that we all predicted would cost us a game at some point.
Growing tired of coaches taking the blame, not putting players in the right position, is a broken
record that keeps on spinning. Rodgers body language and seemingly apathy outside of the first series
that is. At least with Farve with all his mistakes and short-comings in big games, his heart and drive to
win were never questioned.

There needs to be house cleaning in GB. Start with Murf, the knucklehead who brought Gute & Le Fleur into Tinseltown and then his two devotees. Gute is way over his head and La Fleur is not the boy wonder coach he's been put up to be. Look at the record,
I don't mean numbers. Look at who they beat and who they lost to in the last 3 years and by what score. They can't ever put anyone away. They are a good team, just not even near great. They get 6 automatic wins from the NFC N. Well not this year. They let the Vikes beat them at home. .

A lot of sadness, a lot of unhappiness.

Face it. These were two good teams playing in less than optimal conditions. The Packers offense was better than the 9rs. The Packers defense was better. The GB Special Teams were so much worse than the 9ers in just about every phase, it was the problem. Hard imagine being that inept. ST have been an issue for years for GB. Remember the onside kick by Seattle? ST.

Good: Packers defense. Contrary to many of the comments on here, the future is bright for that group. They will likely lose a few big names but Stokes, Alexander, Clark, and Gary will be a solid group to build around.

Bad: Aaron Rodgers’s inability to adjust his game against elite defenses. Passing up underneath routes for deep balls has worked well for him throughout his career, against mediocre to bad defenses. It has plagued him against elite defenses that can get to him before his receivers can adjust.

Ugly: You already know. Blame Mo, he deserves it. But don’t forget, he is not in charge of personnel. He didn’t ask for Wirtel but he did fail to protect him from getting demolished on that blocked punt.

I know it hurts Packer fans. We’ve all said some things in the last 24 hours that we will regret when the sting of this wears off. Just remember the adversity this team went through to get where they were. If we’re honest about that, they actually overachieved. The core group of coaches did an incredible job and this is one of the best football organizations in the league. They will have this team ready to play again next year. Bank it. GPG Forever!! 🧀
