The Cheesehead Nation Bump Is Real

Last week I held forth a theory on the 2009 premiere episode of Packer Transplants that guests who come on Cheesehead Nation who are currently on the Green Bay Packers roster would be the beneficiaries of the Cheesehead Nation Bump (with apologies to Stephen Colbert).

The evidence is mounting that The Bump is real.

First, there was cornerback Joe Porter who resided on the practice squad last year before being activated for the final month of the season and who saw limited action on special teams. Heading into 2009, expectations for Porter were not exactly sky high, especially after the drafting of Brandon Underwood. Then Porter appeared on one of our live shows and suddenly, he's making plays in practice and observers are taking note.

The latest recipient of the Bump's good fortune has been second year tight end Jermichael Finley who has been sensational so far in camp, this after appearing on our show late Saturday night, the first day of training camp.

So take note 2009 Green Bay Packers. Want to improve your game? (Or ensure you'll be off of the PUP list soon?) Come be a live guest on Packer Transplants.

Yes, take note Packers. Aaron and Corey are magic.

I do wish Nick Barnett would come on though. I wonder if he laughs out loud in person as much as he tweets he does.
Update: Just gave him my official endorsement via twitter.

Let's go with that! I give up with my rub my stomach and head at the same time and turn around 8 times before each game starts. You've demonstrated a track record. Count Me In!

Of course, then there's this from today:

No. 3 QB Brian Brohm got his first crack at a 2-minute drill and led a speedy drive to the 1-yard line, buoyed by a blown coverage by LB Danny Lansanah and CB Joe Porter that left TE Evan Moore wide open down the left sideline for a 50-yard gain.

Does this mean Wayne Larrivee will lose a step this season?

Say it ain't so.

Dane Randolph is a guest on our next episode. As part of the third string, he needs all the bump he can get.
