Tavecchio Gets No Guaranteed Money

Giorgio Tavecchio wasn't in a position of bargaining power when he signed a contract with the Green Bay Packers. Either the newly signed kicker had to accept a deal with no guaranteed money or he likely wouldn't get an opportunity whatsoever.

"If the first-year pro beats out Mason Crosby for the kicking job, he'll make $405,000 this year, with a salary split that will pay him $288,000 if he ends up on injured reserve," reports Pete Dougherty of the Green Bay Press-Gazette. "In 2014 he'll make $495,000 with a $318,000 split if he goes on IR, and in '15 he'll make $585,000 with no salary split."

camp fodder is a term I would use for this guy. I just have a tough time seeing a guy who missed 9 XP as serious competition to Crosby
