Several Packers Make Appearances at Start of NFL Network's 2018 Top 100 List

The NFL Network has started to reveal its Top 100 list for 2018

The NFL Network's Top 100 serves little purpose other than to fuel offseason debates as we wait for real football news to return. But it's always at least a little interesting to see who players around the league hold in the highest esteem, as it is the players themselves who vote on these rankings.

The network revealed its rankings of 81-100, and already several Packers have made the list:

  • Ha Ha Clinton-Dix, S, #100
  • Mike Daniels, DT, #93
  • David Bakhtiari, OT, #91
  • Jimmy Graham, TE, #89

Here are a few of the responses the players have had on Twitter so far [site was having an error when I tried to embed them all, so here are their quotes].

From Bakhtiari:

"My only goal for this list is to get 22 spots higher. Don’t really know what it takes but ima find out. #questfor69"

From Clinton-Dix:

"Down year for me but I’ll take it and be back stronger and I’m betting on myself. I hold myself to a higher standard, but blessed to be recognized in the top 100 of this competitive league . #God100 #GopackGo"

From Daniels:

"I am extremely thankful to have made the #NFLTop100 for the third year in a row! There's no doubt in my mind that I'm going to climb back up the ladder this season"

Packers who are still likely to make the list include QB Aaron Rodgers and WR Davante Adams, with Kenny Clark also having a shot for a first appearance. There's an outside chance LB Clay Matthews could make the list based on name recognition, but stats alone would probably not merit his inclusion on the list this year.

It's interesting to see Clinton-Dix admit publicly that 2017 was a down year for him. Here's hoping the change of defensive coordinator and new scheme will help unleash his full potential in 2018.

Dix had a down year in his performance and also in his attitude.

I also didn't like that he was one of the three Packers who didn't stand during our National Anthem at the Packers/Seattle game last year. Bennett is gone and Kendricks (the other one) stunk worse than Dix.

It's his right not to stand. I always stand, but as soon as it's not a choice it will be meaningless.

Feel free to also criticize the thousands of people milling around stadium concourses during the anthem. You can walk right up to any of them and voice your displeasure directly to their faces.

You do know that HHCD wasn't one of the three guys who sat, right? He was holding the flag with the service members during the anthem. He's graduating with a criminal justice degree from Alabama this summer and wants to go to the Academy once his football days are done.

It was Bennett, Kendricks, and King who sat. Kendricks made his reasons known in a great article by Ryan Wood for PackersNews. If you're going to base your reasons for disliking a player on that, at least make sure it's the right player.

HHCD was not a top 100 player last year. He wasn't top 200. This is laughable

Jeez , 2 thumbs down. I guess HHCD had a great season and me and all NFL professional analysts are wrong.

The guy was not good last year, folks. Top 100? LOL!

This NFL top 100 rating is for all NFL players regardless of position. There's 32 teams with 53 players on each. That equals 1696 players..... Let's just call it 1000 players and eliminate 696 for shits and giggles .

So, HHCD was better then 900 of these players last year and belongs in the top 100. Lol

I like this site because there are mostly level headed posters with diversed, but reasonable opinions. But I do get a kick out of the delusional homers. The ones that if you say anything negative, even if it's true, about a Packers player, they get butt hurt.... Lol!

Thumb downs from these bedwetters make me happy.

Thanks, JB27.

I'm not trying to start anything with my fellow Packers posters on here. At the end of the day, we are (at least I hope we are) all Packers fans that want to see our team excel.

I wasn't saying that HHCD didn't have a good 2016 season and I most certainly hope he plays great in 2018. All I was saying is he definitely, in no way, belongs in the top 100 and he had a bad season in 2017. He was one (but certainly not the only) of the reasons our pass D was bad. Opposing QBs had the 2nd highest passer rating against us (only Cleveland was worse).

I'm a huge Packers fan and consider myself somewhat of a homer, but, I'm also a realist. So, when I see an under performing player get praised, I say something. It's fun watching the unrealistic Homer's thumb down logic. Although, I would to if I knew it was a Vikings, Bears or Cowboys fan talking about our players.

Maybe the thumbs downers think I'm a troll, or, maybe they're just bedwetters...lol

I'd put HHCD at about 12th to 15th best player on GB. Top 200 sounds a bit generous.

After the cluster of last season I don't have a clue where HHCD rates.

Not in the top 10, but likely in the top 10 in terms of how his performance will impact 2018.

The only list more pointless than NFL power rankings.
