Safety Chris Banjo Re-Signs with the Packers

No, Chris Banjo probably isn't the answer at the safety position in Green Bay, but for the value of an exclusive-rights tender, it certainly doesn't hurt to bring him back for another season.

The Packers announced Banjo's signing on Tuesday. The one-year tender for a player with one year of experience is believed to be just less than $500,000.

Banjo was a nice addition to the Packers' special teams units, finishing second on the team with 10 tackles in that department. He also contributed 15 tackles on defense.

The Packers also confirmed the signing of running back Michael Hill, who was reported to have signed with the team last week.

Better than MD Jennings, that's about all I can say about Banjo.

For the money, I really like Banjo. He's got some room to grow and could end up being a special teams cog. Our next J.Bush.

Play making studs. Draft em and sign a couple of FAs. Put this shit to rest.

Seems like a pretty level-headed dude on the Twitter. Always a good sign.

Hopefully we start the season without Jennings, Banjo and probably Richardson even on the roster. Be nice to know we upgraded and those guys became expendable.

I think Bnajo will be on the roster as a back-up safety and Special Teams guy. Need those guys willing to give is all on ST's. Banjo is one of them.

I here on theirs talk nick colins come back is this true or false ?

That depends on who you ask. I think Nick Collins would say he is coming back. NFL teams seem to think differently, since he is free to sign at any time and doesn't appear to be generating any interest.

I liked Banjo. I'm glad to see him come back. At the very least he can contribute on special teams.

The key was also at the right price... being cheap and hopefully with no money guaranteed in case he doesn't make the 53.

It is hard to get bent out of shape over an ERFA signing when the guy can play special teams well. But I want the Safety position addressed this offseason. This guy was part of the atrocious group the Packers put out there in 2013. I'm ok with keeping a couple of guys around for STs only. But both Banjo and Richardson were given their shot to unseat MD Jennings in 2013 and both failed.

I hope the 2014 roster comes down to a battle between Sean Richardson and Chris Banjo for the last Safety spot--at best. At least those 2 have some room to grow. Better still would be if both get beat out by someone better..which is not a high bar to clear, IMO. It goes without saying that MD Jennings would be a distant memory in my ideal world.

Another free agent signing by TT, sweet.

Banjo is not a free agent signing. He simply resigned. That doesn't mean he has a final roster spot. He is well liked for his speacial teams play and happens to be a back up safety. Speacial teams is a huge part of a teams success and many fans don't pay attention to it. Everybody is so worried about safety right now and I don't understand it. Sure we got one ok guy in burnett and the rest could be way better but getting pressure from the front seven is what will make any secondary look better. Saftey needs an upgrade but is not the main focus. We will see change and I can't wait.
