Report: Ex-Packer Darren Sharper Surrenders to Police on Rape Charges

From NBC News, reporting from New Orleans:

Former New Orleans Saints star and NFL Network commentator Darren Sharper voluntarily surrendered to police late Thursday after they issued an arrest warrant for the alleged rapes of two women last year in the city’s Central Business District earlier that day, a source familiar with the case told NBC News.

This news comes of the heels of Sharper being charged with seven felonies earlier this month in California in connection to two separate rape incidents.

Sharper is quite obviously a monster. One accusation is bad enough. He's now under investigation or accused in CA, FL, NV, AZ, and LA.

Always knew he was a POS. May he rot in a jail cell before hell.

He's gone for good. If CA doesn't get him: possible 30 years, give him to LA he'll get life period. Otherwise he can end up in NV with his buddy OJ. Of course FL or AZ may get him.

He's accused of drugging women and raping them, good luck to a superbowl winner and 4 time all pro player with the packers. I don't think that he woke-up one day and started this BS, do you?

I agree with all the above comments. I'd have a hard time being convinced this just started last Sept. What amazes me, is that he can find 2 Defense Lawyers, one of which is a woman, that have said this was all consensual. Most of you don't remember Caryl Chessman. California executed him, for 2 sexual assaults that weren't rape. I hope this guy gets what he deserves.

Not to go too far off topic, but Chessman's execution was actually the catalyst to change the death penalty in California. If I remember my history correctly, the conviction that got him the gas chamber was when he dragged a woman from her car and forced her to perform oral sex on him, which meets the legal definition of rape.

Aren't humans wonderful?

zeke, You are correct. I wish we could discuss this, but this is not the place. Chessman actually was given 2 kidnapping death counts for taking 2 women, from their car to his. (The Linburg Baby Law). Ironically the law was changed in 1952, 8 years before his execution, to include homicide.
He was not allowed to benefit from the change in the law. He remains the last person executed in this country, who hadn't killed anyone.
Sharper, is probably lucky, this is 2014

I heard we need a safety. Maybe we can sign him for cheap on the rebound.

Sharper is only 38 and would probably play for the minimum salary to get work release. By the way, did anyone tell our current safeties this is a contact sport? When was the last time you saw a GB safety touch someone else? Just asking. Save the rest of the rape comments until he is in the slammer. The dude is obviously a creep but give him his day and I will be the first give it to him. Until then this may all be a conspiracy against him. (Probably not.) If this is all true isn't it sad what he has to do to have relations with women?

Ray, I understand your point, however he has been Charged in 2 states with Rape. I'm giving him his day when I said (probably). In cases like this, I choose to error on the side of the women, because it is Very Difficult for women to come forward with these kind of accusations. If I'm wrong, I won't be too proud to admit it.

My vegas odds:

Chances that this dude is a creep at don't know how to treat the ladies-100%

Chances that there are a bunch of women conspiring to get his money-5%

Chances are he is guilty of this-95% (the similar stories don't look good)

Ray, Believe it or not!! I heard Attorney Lisa Blume say on TV during one of the High Profile cases that, "In our justice system, you are only Innocent until proven Guilty, (In Court)". I agree with your last post.

I am not going anywhere with this one Tom, but if you believe everything you here on TV you should switch to the internet. It gets way better and you will be in with the kids. Have fun. Go pack.

Sorry for any confusion but I did say I was not going anywhere with that one. I just found it irresistable to not comment on the "I heard it on TV." That's all. Laughs are good.

Sharper has not been fired from what I know. Even before he was charged the first time he has been on leave indefinately since the accusations started getting out. It is very safe to say though the next time he works will be in a chain gang.

Just saw it on bleacher report tom, you ain't fibbin. I wasn't trying to call you a liar. It gets worse for him every day. I liked him when he made plays but I never liked his mouth or his attitude. I do not want anybody to think I am sticking up for him as a fan.

Ray and LV Tom,

If his high priced attorneys don't get his money, the victims will in civil court. Some state will find him guilty. They can't take away his retirement check from the NFL whatever that is. Keep in mind OJ still gets $27,000 per month from the NFL. I believe that you can only spend $500 per month in State Prison and $1500 in Federal Prison. All the state's can't be wrong.

Innocent until proven guilty a buzz word by the networks and attorneys.

Tom R, I agree with you, however, $8 Million $$$$, can Buy you a lot of Defense Attorneys. If he's Guilty, & I believe he is, I hope he gets what he deserves. With $8 Million, these Defense Attorneys will Bleed him dry. I believe this will go on a while.
One thing: I thought I read where there is No Bail for this offense in LA. If he is extradited there, I wonder if they will have the 1st trial? I've read a lot of articles on this, & as I was told, you can't believe everything you read & hear. I read that this offense in LA, carries a sentence with Hard Labor. Don't know if any of this is true, but I did read it.

LV Tom,

He surrendered himself in Los Angeles with his attorney on Feb 15 and released on one million dollar bail, DA wanted 10 million dollar bail. They took away his passport. If convicted he can get 30 years in State Prison. Trial date, who knows?

Tom R. According to USA TODAY, Sharper was jailed Thursday evening, & will remain there until he is sent to New Orleans to face the charges. According to USA TODAY, he is awaiting extradition.
As I said earlier, I read where there is No Bail for this offense in LA. Not sure what happens to him after he goes to court in New Orleans.

Tom R. The state of LA issued arrest warrants for him on Thursday to the Los Angeles police Dept. He is currently sitting in L.A. jail, awaiting extradition to the state of LA. (Don't know how to spell Louisianna). If convicted in LA, he faces a possible Life Without Parole.

LV Tom,

They took his passport in L.A. and he will stand trial here before he goes any place. He's not allowed to leave L.A. County, not go to bars etc. Even if he's found not guilty here, the prosecution in the other states can use the L.A. DA's evidence from this case in their cases. He's a dead man walking.
