Gross player management from MM and TT. Lacy forced to play when he shouldn't have. Now the Packers lose him for multiple weeks. WTF is going on over there?

TT: "Hey, I got an idea, let's keep two RBs and seven WRs. But we'll really only play three or four of those WRs. That sound good Mikey?"

MM: "Makes sense. I'll do that super sneaky works all the time WR in the backfield trick again this year. They'll never see it coming, Ted."

TT: " You're the man, Mike"

MM: "Thanks Teddy"

Many fans think the same as you. -- Imagine what the players think.

Not only are Ted Thompson and Mike McCarthy's personnel decisions poor from a strategic perspective, they are putting Green Bay's players availability and careers at risk. Ridiculous.

Lacy to IR. Needs surgery. Career with Pack likely over. What horrible player management.

Yes go away, because you're taking up all the space from all the dip shit comments about firing everyone.

There were some gems in this podcast (read - you agreed with me):

1) GB doesn't trust Ripkowski and can't or won't play him in as a single back. I kept predicting that GB would bring back Kuhn because MM was uncomplimentary about Rip during the offseason, but assumed that Rip had made an impression during TC allowing TT to discard Kuhn. Instead, looks to me like TT decided he couldn't keep two FBs on the roster, and made the bet that Rip would develop. BTW, I am not ripping on TT here: I agreed with that decision.

2. GB doesn't trust Hawkins. He couldn't get a snap despite a debacle at CB. I did write that the development of Gunter into being a decent back up CB was critical for the depth, even naming him the player to watch during the HOF preseason game. Again, I am not ripping on TT or either Hawkins or Gunter here. I'd have kept Hawkins as a redshirt CB due to potential, and still think Whitt can get decent play out of Gunter, especially when Gunter can be used only in certain circumstances rather than as the #1 or #2 CB.

3. Crockett cannot be recalled from IR - he can't play for GB this year. To be eligible for return from IR, you first have to make the 53 man roster. Crockett didn't. Given all the talk about the shortage at RB, I guess I think this should have been in print in one of the articles. I never was a big fan of Crockett, but thought he should have been waived injured with a settlement, in which case GB could have re-signed him after week 8.

4. I've concluded that CM3 is no longer elite, and might not be a red anymore. 20 rushes, included 16 when he was single blocked, and nada. I know Dallas has a fine OL, but still. Big question next year when his cap hit reaches $15.2M.

A) This wasn't in the podcast, hence the letter rather than a number. I'm guessing Shields is done. Even if he comes back to play during the playoffs, I don't think GB should rely on him in 2017. Cut him and take the dead money hit. Still means a $9.3M cap savings for next season. TT will have to look at the draft and make a judgment on how it will unfold, but we need more talent than we have high draft picks. Take the $9.3M savings and consider using it to cover the cost of buying a #1or 2 WR or a #1 or 2 CB (although I can't say I like the looks of the FA WR pool).
