To date, this offseason looks like a disaster. Lose Cook. Likely lose Lang. Lose our best second half of season defensive back, the only one who could make a play. Lacy likely gone.

Oh, but at least we prioritized Don Barclay, one of the worst offensive lineman in the league when he's on the field. Joy.

The Packers didn't prioritize Barclay. Rather the inverse. Barclay prioritized the Packers, eager to sign with any team that offered above the NFL minimum. He's not breaking the bank and could even be released down the road with minimal if any hit on the salary cap.

Thanks for the clarification. Likely my frustration coming out in that I was hoping to hear that GB and Cook have agreed to terms when I woke up this morning and instead, the only FA action to come to light today from GB is the signing of Don Barclay. My least favorite GB player for a number of seasons now. Guy is a sieve.

That being said, I stand behind my comment that the FA signing period has not been friendly to the GB roster.

If Richard Rodgers is our starting TE next season, I will be incredibly disappointed. Heck, if Don Barclay has a prominent back-up role (again), I will be disappointed. If they think he is going to fill Lang's potential absence, then they are straight up insane.

I understand your frustration, truly. But it's important to read between the lines. TE contracts were outrageous yesterday. 2nd string, 3rd string tight ends getting $5 -6M/yr contracts are you kidding? Now, I wouldn't be surprised if Cook fancied himself a top dog at his position on the market going in. After this past season, it's hard to argue that. Big picture though, he's 30 and that was his highest producing season yet. He finally got a taste of great qb play. Everyone in the league has seen his subpar play before this past year. Teams that are interested in him don't have elite qb play to make him look as good. My point is conversation is on pause, not finished. My gut tells me he will be back.

That said, Scott McKenna, super on point. You gained a fan today.
