Quick Hits: Jets

Alex's first take on the Packers Jets highlights.

I firmly expect to Packers to play hard today, but eventually come up short. I hope they prove me wrong.

Here's how it actually went down.

Gameday Conditions: Going with the two computer and iPhone setup today. Dual screen stream and national TV broadcast. No breakfast or lunch, straight up coffee, and possibly water after the half.

Packers 6 Jets 0

Quick Hits

First Half

Not a pretty first drive.

Nice punt by Masthay though.

Great to see Jenkins back.

Pat Lee continues to play lights out. Nice stick.

Rodgers has been way off, that makes me nervous. One of six out of gates does not get it done.

Green is a big big boy.

Good to see the new guy Walden in there on some plays. Looks like a beast so far.

Chillar did something.

THROW THE RED FLAG!

IT'S SHORT!  Nice work Shield. Shove it down their throats.

Or, just kick a field goal. Sigh.

Fumble, nice.

Every play-action fake we runs, looks well, fake. And slow.

The secondary is playing lights out.

It hasn't amounted to much yet, but sticking with the run is going to pay off. Mark it down.

That stupid siren they play there should be crushed.

I can't believe how bad our best in the NFL offense looks.

All these trick plays lead me to believe that Jets are nervous right now.

You need to make that catch Charles.

Tramon.Williams

Huh, a Brett Swain sighting.

Don't ever want to see Jennings down again.

Knuckle ball Mason Crosby. Great.

That was the quickest three-and-out I have ever seen by any team. Thanks Jets.

Longest.Half.Ever

Dumb Internet Comment of the Half: "If we score a touchdown that's huge."

Second Half

Desmond Bishop is the real deal.

At least their kicker is suckin' too.

The ball was right in your hands James Jones. That pisses me off.

Greg Jennings... man possessed.

Charles.Woodson. The Packers want this more than you, period.

Damn, Rodgers got DRILLED. Wow.

Collins on special teams? Flirting with the devil there.

Please play the entire play Clay Matthews. Damn.

Tramon Williams deserves big money.

Charlie Peprah making plays and taking names.

Playing not to lose never wins Mike.

Mike McCarthy has zero killer instinct.

The.Claymaker

Dagger. Mason Crosby.

Barnburner...

Dumb Internet Comment of the Half: "One field goal will never win this game."

MVP

Charlie Peprah

Final Thoughts

It wasn't pretty, our offense sucks, but hey, who really cares right now?

I can see us going 6-3 heading into the bye next week. But like Alex said this year, we aren't going to the Playoffs. Oh wells.

Mr. Bacon - with the NFCN right now, 9-7 prob. wins it. If we beat the Cowgurls next week we're gonna win the division. With all these injuries I'll take that and run. And btw - if the offense wakes up at all this team could really get scary.

He's bashing me for saying we wouldn't make the playoffs if we played like we were. Which we didn't.

Alex I am not bashing you lol, I am just having fun when you said this team was not a playoff team. Sure the Packers have problems, but in the end, its just a win or a loss.

Packers are 5-3, and with Chicago in a freefall it seems from Jeff George the 2nd. The Packer may be begining to develop something now.

5-3 WOOOOOOOOOOO

If Rodgers ever gets his 2009 form back, we're the best team in football. Cause our D is bailing us out every single game. Capers deserves DC of the year.

"Cause our D is bailing us out every single game."

I've praised to this without much attention from people on the live chat, who prefer to argue about useless points more often than not and not realize the good things this team has. But i can't stress enough how true and impactful that sentence above represents for our team.

"Capers deserves DC of the year."

Exactly my sentiments. Dom Capers is getting more from less than anyone else in the league.

He's been forced to play so much psycho and 2-4 fronts this season due to injuries across the D-line, and has had to play rooks and cast-aways in between. He's got a secondary that has performed great without one of its premier starters at CB on PUP, an undrafted free agent rookie with only 1 collegiate year of experience on defense at nickle, and a rookie at a a key communication position at FS who went out with injury far too early. The LB corps is now playing with only two of its original 4 starters.

And all they do is keep games winnable. Dom is really silencing any early criticisms and reservations people may have had coming into the season, and/or the Packers are truly showing they have some legitimate depth at nearly all positions on D.

..And you're right, if the Offense plays at even 75% of what we've seen they are capable of last season, this team should be a real handful for anyone..

"The LB corps is now playing with only two of its original 4 starters."

It seems like our "backups" playing now are playing better than our starters at the beginning of the season.

BTW, we'll hear every week that, just like last week, it was the Jets that lost the game, not the Packers that won it.

But, hey, I'll take the opposing team losing the game every single time!!!

And it's settled, right? Tramon Williams (1 FR, 1INT) is the best corner in the NFL.

All I can say is Wow! On the road against a good team (good D anyway, and good running game), after a tough win the week before, I never would have guessed. In fact, I picked against the Pack for the first time this year--gotta do that more I guess.

Hat off to Dom for a great game plan with a patchwork D, and to the Offense for not turning the ball over. No a pretty performance by the O but who cares? If they ever get the O going this team will be tough.

Great game today. Of course the offensive woes continue, but our defense is helping as much as it can.

Like everyone above as said, once the offense kicks in, and you know it should, this team will very dangerous.

And just think - Harris and Bigby haven't even played yet.

Howard Green - great signing by Thompson.

Sitting with my Jets fan nephew at the game. Williams interception with 4 minutes left, he says" Damn, this game is over." I say, "no, the Packers will run three straight for little gain and hand the ball bcak to you." After it happens, he says, "how the hell did you know that?" Me: "It's what the Packers do.

LOL

McCarthy needs to get his head out of his rear and figure out that trying to protect a lead of less than 7 with more than 4 minutes left by running your FB is a great way to give the ball back to your opponents and put their offense in the driver's seat.

Dear MM, control your own destiny. Don't run the ball 3 times in a row in the middle to late 4th quarter unless you are up by at least 7 points. And then, only if you can leave the clock drained should you fail to convert a first down.

I was seriously sweating the situation when it went down. Felt like Deja Vu.

Great win, and happy we ran the ball more today than we have in a while with 23 carries by RB's.... But MM: There's no reason your fullback should have 8 carries. At least 4 of those should have been touches for Jackson.

...Which is crazy, because he's told the media repeatedly they put a lot of stock into their self-scout report in order to identify play calling tendencies and avoid repeating them...

SOmeone is missing something in the stats department/offensive QC..

yeah like when they run the same exact offtackle run to left side every time they get into 3rd or 4th and 1. Oh wait, he does occassionally switch up the HB on that play so I guess he is pretty creative.

MM is great at developing young players, especially quarterbacks, but I just don't think he is the greatest playcaller. He did call a better offensive game than shottenheimer, but thats not saying much. Capers was the man today.

Totally different coaching styles. Rex is a lightning rod and MM likes flying under the radar. I really don't care for coaches that think that they are bigger than the game. The Jets can keep Rex.

It wasn't pretty but the defense is getting better and they'll be getting more healthy when Harris and Pickett get back in there.

The offensive line is looking solid. I'm still baffled by how off Rodgers and his receivers seem.

They really need to quit going to Quarless on crucial plays so often. He just hasn't been getting it done. I really wish they'de start going to Lee more.

Donald Driver's streak is broken, so why not give the guy a week off or limit his snaps? He's obviously not healthy and Swain might be a better alternative at the moment.

They go to Quarless hoping that he is the next Jermichael Finley but he isn't. Too bad, I thought that he was going to be a better receiver than he's turning out to be.

I agree with you about Driver. Sit him down and get him healthy for the push at the end of the season.

dude quarless has played in 4 games. why would anyone think he is going fill finley's shoes? That being said I agree we should use Lee a bit more as he has way more experience. But if you thought quarless was just going to step in and take over where finley left off your crazy

I never thought that he was going to take over Finley's spot. I was hoping that he was going to be a better receiver than he's turning out to be. Too many dropped balls. What I was hoping for was another good pair of receiving TEs like we had with Chumura and Jackson. He's young maybe he get's better. We'll see.
